Windowscommunitytoolkit: Interesting selected text behavior for TextBoxMask

Created on 29 Jan 2017  路  7Comments  路  Source: windows-toolkit/WindowsCommunityToolkit

There is a reason why they call me Dr. Evil when it comes to testing but here is an interesting behavior that I'm not sure about. So I have a text box with Mask="9999", if I click into that text box and then select all, then press the number 2 on my keyboard, the text box will now have '2222' whereas given I only press the '2' key once I would have expected it to have only entered a single '2'. NOTE I'm running v1.3.0-dev00620

Certainly I can live with this the way it is as not a lot of users will find this, but it is interesting and somewhat unexpected, but I could be wrong.

Thanks @ZingPow for reporting but I designed it to be like that to give the flexibility for the end user to fill the whole textbox with a single keydown and to view which placeholders should be filled with the typed character :)
If the community see this as an unexpected behavior including you we could change it.

That seems odd to me

@IbraheemOsama I'm a big believer in matching user expectations so my test for stuff like this is what other apps behave like this (Office being the gold standard), or what use case can be made for this behavior?

@IbraheemOsama do you think you can do it asap?

(btw I agree with @ZingPow )

@deltakosh Will finish it in 10 hours, just once I'm home :)

sounds like a perfect plan
