Windowscommunitytoolkit: Continuous Delivery of Store App?

Created on 18 Aug 2016  路  6Comments  路  Source: windows-toolkit/WindowsCommunityToolkit

I reckon this is needed for every Store App devs?

So we keep source code in GitHub, run UnitTests on AppVeyor, build and package to NuGet, the CI is pretty much that.

But there is an showcase App with UI, I can see that you are not using https://github.com/Microsoft/WinAppDriver for UI testing, so how did you test your App actually does what you want? By Human?

Suppose you add UI testing as well, as your acceptance test, once it got past, how does one publish it to the store with code? From what I gathered it is not currently possible, a broken CD pipeline.

( this might not be the correct place to discuss this, but I believe every UWP devs would want this, so, opinions or facts welcomed. :))

@xied75 You might want to take a look at this tool:

It is my understanding that it would help with exactly what you are asking for.

@gep13 Thanks a bunch!!!

This is exactly the power of community, for the record, I'm the Fourth to star that repo. :) now more people who read this could follow.

The reason I thought it's not possible, is because I asked the online support from Microsoft, and they said that, so I trusted them. Maybe next time I should ask Siri.

@xied75 or ask directly to the community ;)

Yeah, been burned by that in the past as well :smile:

I asked years ago, never get a positive answer. Then the submission API looked really great when they talked about it at /build//, but never had access to it...

Thanks @gep13 for sharing this repo. I hope to see a VSTS extension.

Hey, happy that you find your answer!
Regarding the question about the testing: we are manually testing it so far and this is far from perfect. We need to add more automatic testing. If you want to help, you are utterly welcome :D
