Windows-itpro-docs: Wrong

Created on 30 Jul 2018  Â·  8Comments  Â·  Source: MicrosoftDocs/windows-itpro-docs

This is simply incorrect information, there is NO button or link (or even label) to restore quarantined items! I now have to shut down, boot a linux live distro, find the damned file & restore it manually, or some equivalent action.
WORSE I'd already allowed the damned file once, doing so SHOULD HAVE automatically added the exception for it!

I want to remove a quarantined file. Step 4 says to click "Remove". There is no Remove link or button. FYI, neither is there a "Restore" button, only an ambivalent "Allow" button.

Exact same situation as OP and ewmjc, and even if you click "Allow" it doesn't put the previously quarantined file back.

Same here: I can't restore quarantined files using the button. After an UAC prompt the item is still quarantined. I'm using Insider build 17713.rs5_release.180706-1551

Navigate to Quarantined threats.
Select the affected file.
Click on "Restore" button
Click "Yes" on UAC "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" prompt.
RESULT: File does not get restored.

Performed with App & browser controls > Check apps and files = Off

This is happening on network mapped drive files.

Who writes this documentation... no 'remove' nor 'restore', only 'allow' is available

I restored my files by
1: Open 'Windows Defender Security Centre'
2: In the icon panels click 'Virus & threat protection'
3: Click 'Threat history' not 'scan history', it should be next to a clock with a counterclockwise arrow on it.
4: Under 'Quarantined threats', restore the file.
5: If it keeps getting hidden, put an exception.

@andreabichsel, can you take a look at this issue?

I clarified the procedure a little, and the change should be live by eod. The buttons I show are Restore and Remove, just like in this video: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=restore+quarantined+file+windows&&view=detail&mid=C686803145AB46104633C686803145AB46104633&&FORM=VRDGAR.

If you are having an issue with files not being restored, please use https://support.microsoft.com/en-us to help resolve the problem.

Thank you!
