Created on 30 Apr 2018  Â·  22Comments  Â·  Source: gitcoinco/web

User Story

As a developer, I want the best the open source work in web3 on Gitcoin so that I can contribute to great projects.

Design Spec

See 671 for Design details.

Description

  • Incentivize Gitcoin developers to look around open source repo's themselves for potential Gitcoin issues and report these back to Gitcoin (by either a) dropping the link at gitcoin.co/requests or b) tagging @gitcoinbot on the issue directly along with how much they think a fair bounty would be worth)
  • Holds a section which highlights community sourced issues, whether funded/partially funded/unfunded
  • Has functionality for developers / maintainers / funders to click on an unfunded issue and fund

Type: Feature

Attributes of a request

  • Github URL
  • Amount (0.01)
  • Denomination (ETH, DAI, etc)
  • requested_by_github_username
  • Comments
  • Status (Funded or Unfunded)

Additional Information

See Sketch files here / GIF below for basic flow of Requests.

@vs77bb was getting comfortable with the project setup and code structure in the spare time of the last 2 days. Requirements for this ticket seem pretty clear, the intended flow is well described and makes sense. But I'll most certainly have some questions over the weekend when it comes to the details

Hi @pfilippi24 do you have any questions on this ticket? How goes it?

@pfilippi24 Thanks for the heads up on where you're at. Excited to discuss further soon!

@derozic Glad to see your interest! To confirm, are you interested in diving in and building Gitcoin Requests out or rather helping us look for potential issues to post on Gitcoin?

@vs77bb I was interested first in help us look for potential issues to post on Gitcoin, but I can definitely build out Gitcoin requests once identified. Let me know what we need the most at this point so that I can dive in....

@vs77bb let me know? If I understand your question correctly it's the difference between researching web3 issues that land as potential Gitcoin bounties, versus specifying the product specifications and requests so that someone chasing the bounty can accomplish it with a clear path to the finish line.

@derozic Right now our focus with this Gitcoin bounty is finding someone who is interested in taking the design spec above and coding it up to merge into the Gitcoin app! The product spec's are pretty much finalized above.

However, if you are more interested in poking around and identifying web3 issues which are good for bounty, that'd be a great way to contribute as well. While the Gitcoin Requests feature is being built, feel free to poke in with me on Slack with any issues you think are good for bounty and we'll consider posting bounties / discussing with the repo maintainers 🙂

Hey @vs77bb just wanted to bump this, looks like we haven't heard from @KennethAshley in quite a while.

Hi @usmanmuhd let us know if you have any questions!

@PixelantDesign As I understand, currently we do not display the submitted bounty requests to gitcoin users(except admins). So I have to build that part right?

@usmanmuhd the submitted bounty requests should be visible to all users via a filter on the explorer. That bit has been built out here

I believe these need to be built out :

  • the emails
  • bounty request form
  • fund issue button on the details on a bounty request

@vs77bb / @PixelantDesign could we throw some clarity on

  • when a gitcoin request i filled out -> the potential funder receives a mail.
( who is the funder ? Gitcoin team / repo owner ? )
  • If I click on fund a gitcoin request -> do i get redirected to new form ? Do I get to choose the amout with which I want to contribute for the gitcoin request issue ?

What we've talked about in the past was anyone can fund a Gitcoin Request.

If I click on fund a gitcoin request -> do i get redirected to new form ? Do I get to choose the amout with which I want to contribute for the gitcoin request issue ?

If someone wants to fund a request, I imagine clicking Fund - taking the user to the fund issue form with some of the information pre-filled (if possible) since we already know the Github Issue information . The rest of the fields will need to be completed by the funder.

cc @willsputra since it looks like he designed this a while back. We may need to update the screens a little. Questions I have are: 1) How does someone browsing the issue explorer get to this view? 2) Should we consider adding a Fund Issue Button displayed on the Bounty Requests view on each of the listed items to encourage Funding and differentiate this from the rest of the way the explorer works?

__The funding of this issue was increased to 1.85 ETH (156.13 USD @ $84.39/ETH) .__

Hi there! Is there any progress on this topic?
Seems to be rather old already, and kind of similar to the Grants, except this may be a one-time thing?
Anyways, @usmanmuhd @vs77bb anything we can do here for you guys?

@owocki @vs77bb is it still actual?

Issue Status: 1. Open 2. Cancelled

__The funding of 1.85 ETH (367.76 USD @ $198.79/ETH) attached to this issue has been cancelled by the bounty submitter__

@owocki @PixelantDesign @vs77bb is this still relevant / active? The attached bounty was cancelled - so I closed this ticket. If this is still relevant please reclassify, thanks!
