Waybar not available anymore

Hi,

I've been using sway and waybar for a few months and it worked fine most of the time.
But today, after restarting, the waybar won't show up anymore and I'm not sure how to debug/fix this issue.

Reporting the issue here because sway appears to work fine other than not having a waybar.

Commenting swaybar_command waybar in the sway config didn't solve the issue (still no bar with swaybar), so maybe the issue is with sway after all :thinking: Nobody else having issues?

Same here, restarted my laptop and waybar is suddenly missing, even though I can see the process running. If I run waybar in a terminal it doesn't print any errors, but the bar does not appear.

Personally, this happened when upgrading gtk3 to the latest version (as of writing this, 1:3.24.17-2 )

Downgrading to the previous one, such as 1:3.24.16-1 fixed multiple issues for me (waybar & wofi)

I am curious about what got changed for gtk3 that could cause such issues 😬

As above, the issue is with gtk3. You need to wait for the fixed package to be released. (Maybe ask Arch to yank the broken gtk3.)

As a quick workaround in the meantime, if you still have the older working gtk3 version in your pkg cache you can install it:

sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/gtk3-1\:3.24.16-1-*
