Motivation

I have seen this issue reported once on Telegram, but it wasn't reported in a way for it to be investigatable. So, if someone sees the "Unexpected Balance After Updating to 1.1.10+" issue reported please point her/him here, instead of giving him technical support on the other platform.

Context

1.1.10+ fixes the "spent issue" and as a consequence everyone who upgrades his wallet will be reindexed from start. There are 3 possible things those could've gone wrong.

  • 1.1.10+ has a bug.
  • Reindexing the wallet requires larger min gaps.
  • User error.
  • Because of the "spent issue" the wallet didn't even have that much coin to begin with.

If you experience this issue, please do the following things and report your results here.

Debugging

Step 1: 1.1.10+

  1. Load your wallet in 1.1.10+.
  2. Make sure everything is synchronized/connected according to the status bar.
  3. Note your balance.

Step 2: 1.1.9.2

  1. Downgrade to 1.1.9.2: https://github.com/zkSNACKs/WalletWasabi/releases/tag/v1.1.9.2
  2. Run Wasabi. It will crash the first time, as the filter format won't be recognized. Run it again.
  3. Load your wallet.
  4. Make sure everything is synchronized/connected according to the status bar.
  5. Note your balance.

Is there a difference in balance? If so, then 1.1.10+ has a bug.
If there is no difference (so you are still seeing the unexpected balance) continue debugging.

Step 3: 100 gap limit

Let's elevate the gap limit and see what we experience.

  1. Run 1.1.9.2.
  2. File/Open/Wallets Folder
  3. Close Wasabi
  4. Change the minimum gap limit in your wallet file to 100 from 21.
  5. Change the height of your wallet to 0. (So it'll reindex the wallet.)
  6. Run Wasabi
  7. Load your wallet.
  8. Make sure everything is synchronized/connected according to the status bar.
  9. Note your balance.

Then do it again with 1.1.10+:

  1. Upgrade to 1.1.10+: https://github.com/zkSNACKs/WalletWasabi/releases
  2. Run Wasabi
  3. Load your wallet.
  4. Make sure everything is synchronized/connected according to the status bar.
  5. Note your balance.

Did you get the same balances this time? If not, then which one is the correct one?
If yes, then the balance is most likely correct, however you may want to make sure it by recovering your wallet in Electrum: https://docs.wasabiwallet.io/using-wasabi/RestoreElectrum.html
