Vscode-remote-release: VSCode Server stuck while installing

  • VSCode Version: 1.44.2 (user setup)
  • Local OS Version: Windows_NT x64 10.0.19041
  • Remote OS Version: Ubuntu 16.04
  • Remote Extension/Connection Type: SSH

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. SSH to the remote host

@andrewspiers you can set "remote.SSH.useFlock": false to work around this. Maybe you are on an old version of the extension, the default should be false now.

Same problems encountered. You can see a branch of process are under uninterruptible sleep(D). Couldn't solve it.

Please share the full log from the Remote-SSH output channel

I get very similar results:

wget hangs forever the first time I try to connect after a vscode update, then I get logs like these:

This just loops over and over. The only workaround is to (after the first failure) ssh to the server, and manually remove the symlink. After that wget may or may not work.

Since sshd and node is running on the remote, would it be possible to send code updates to the remote? I thought there was some sort of option for this but I can't find it.
