Vscode-jupyter: Jupyter Split Cell and Select Multiple Cells command

Created on 12 Dec 2019  路  30Comments  路  Source: microsoft/vscode-jupyter

Feature: Notebook Editor, Interactive Window, Python Editor cells

Description

  1. The Jupyter split cell command (ctrl + shift + minus) does not work, it merely zooms out the display. Would be great if this command were added.

  2. The Jupyter select multiple cells (shift + down/up) as well as cell merge (shift + m) commands do not work. Again, would be great if these were added.

@Bill-Fujimoto, thanks for the feedback!

Please add these! We use them all the time in Juptyer.

I'm looking forward to it too.
And also Merge Cells (ctrl + shift + M) when multiple cells are selected.

Any update on this?

There are no plans to do this in the immediate future. Longer term this should come about as part of the work VS code is doing to implement notebooks natively. If you want to track that work, the associated work item is: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-python/issues/10496

I'd like to add that the new native notebooks do support splitting cells. You can try them here: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/python/notebooks-are-getting-revamped/

+1 to supporting multiple select and merge
