Vscode-intelephense: Disable Update notices

Created on 14 Dec 2019  路  11Comments  路  Source: bmewburn/vscode-intelephense

Whenever there are new updates I get a popup notice telling me that it updated to a new version. I get the option to Open or Dismiss the update.

After Dismissing the update if I open another project I get the same Update notice and have to dismiss it again. This is a bit annoying when jumping around 5+ projects a day.

In Fact I don't want to be bothered with the notice at all. I would like a setting to turn off update notifications.

Thanks

Intelephense is a brilliant extension and I'm grateful for your hard work building it, but I don't need to see a notification about every update, especially as they are happening quite frequently.

I have 21 extensions installed and Intelephense is the only one that pops up a notification for each of its updates. Imagine if every extension did this! Please consider disabling this notification or providing an option to disable it.

Thanks!

If you click Dismiss, the notification then should not show until next update. There have been many updates lately, perhaps this is what you are seeing?

Yes, that is true, but the main issue is that I see the same version update when I open a different project and I open different projects all the time. So I just saw version 1.3.4 notice 4 times today. It seems that the dismiss only dismisses the notice for that project/workspace.

However, I still prefer to just turn it off entirely.
Thanks

It shouldn't, this check is set globally not on each workspace. I will double check.

It's a small, auto fade, non-modal, dismissable notification in the lower right corner of the editor that shows once per update of the extension.

Any perceived inconvenience with this is absolutely insignificant compared to the value that this extension provides in auto-completion, workspace symbols, document symbols, breadcrumbs, outline, go to definition, highlight, hover, find all references, signature help, doc and range formatting, diagnostics, and JS/CSS/HTML embedded language support.

It can lead developers to pause what they were about to do and check out the latest updates. Great, but we get distracted quite easily and we where suppose to fix something for a client, but ended up spending 5-20 minutes looking through the update logs.

I am not arguing the value of your work and you probably want to lead people to your website and promote your Pro version. It's well worth the money, for sure! You have done an excellent job and you should get paid for your work :)
However, I am just asking for a setting to disable it if we like. So all the new users that download it will still get the notifications by default and most will leave it on.

It does look like the Dismiss is now working across Workspaces which was my main concern.
Thanks

Nobody here is doubting the value of this wonderful extension. The value doesn't negate the annoyance of an alert appearing after every update.

VS Code is a productivity tool. Imagine if every extension and every other piece of software that you use did this with no option to opt out.

On every workspace, On every project and on every update i have to click dismiss to this info, on remote-ssh Server. Its really annoying!

This is not entirely true because I have dismissed this notification more than 10 times now for the same version.
