Vscode-git-graph: Long loading and embedded page crash
If i open git graph on a new project it works.
adding 3-4 commit , i see them
add one branch and 3-4 commit it also update and works.
But
if i open a relatively small project (5 branches, ~120 commits)
it loads 1-2 minutes then crash and tab content go black.

Is the repository public so I can run it myself to see what's going on? If not, could you reply with the output of the command git --no-pager log --graph --oneline --branches --remotes -n 500 --format="%h, %p" --date-order which will give me the structure and abbreviated commit hashes, without revealing any content.
I've tried the extension on repos with 500+ commits & 10+ branches, and it loads in less than a second, so I'm thinking this is to do with handling some slightly unusual branching / merging pattern, and not to do with the size of the repo.

No thoses repo are private.
I will give you result of this command tomorrow.
But i just tried your extension on a vm at home on similar repo(commit and branch number) and it worked perfectly (i was on ubuntu 18.10 / github server)
FI: All projects where it didn't worked are on a bitbucket server and i'm working on fork using automatic fork syncing https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/keeping-forks-synchronized-776639961.html

I've used the data you've provided to mock the response of the git log command (which is used to retrieve the data for display on the graph). The graph renders in less than a second, and displays correctly, shown here:
This indicates the algorithm I've written isn't getting stuck in a loop as it renders the graph itself. Can you think of any special characters etc. in your commit messages that might not have occurred for anyone else using this extension?
If not, I'll set up a Bitbucket server with a similar structure as you've described to see if I can find any integration issues with it. (seems unlikely though)

I still have the same problem with v1.3.2 on the 5 projects i tested (behind my work bitbucket repo)
I did some testing with github projects (yours and typecript). It works fast and as intended (setting set to 1000 commits)
So it seems highly related to something going with my work repo.

I've also tried multiple large Bitbucket repo's, which I have forked, and then checked out. So far I haven't been able to observe any issues like you're having at work, but I'll keep looking for some other repos.

I haven't been able to replicate your issue in any repo, so I've written a script which runs the three exact git commands the extension does when its loading, from the same Node.js environment.
If an error occurs when executing one of the git commands, it will save the error information. If the git command run successfully, it saves an anonymised version of the data to the output files, which I'll then be able to use to debug the extension end to end.
It replaces all characters with "x" and digits with "0" (apart from commit hashes). If your comfortable in providing this anonymised data, please reply with a zip of the three output files (git-graph-branches.json, git-graph-commits.json & git-graph-refs.json), or email them to me at [email protected]
To run it, place git-graph-debug.js in the folder of one of the git repo's, and run node git-graph-debug.js. If you've changed the number of commits to initially load, please change the constant on line 5 of the script to match.

I've identified the cause of the issue, and believe that I've fixed it. I've attached a pre-release version of git-graph v1.3.3, which has the fix in it. Could you please download it, and then install it by running code --install-extension git-graph-1.3.3.vsix from the directory where you extract the vsix file. You'll have to close & reopen VSCode for it to take effect. Check the version is 1.3.3 in the extensions menu in VSCode to make sure the install was successful. Let me know if it the extension is now working for you at work, and then I can publish it for everyone.

This has just been released in the final version of 1.3.3. As I forgot to flag the pre-release version as a beta, and you manually installed it, you won't automatically get the final 1.3.3 update in Visual Studio Code. To get the final version:
- Download the final release https://github.com/mhutchie/vscode-git-graph/releases/download/v1.3.3/git-graph-1.3.3.vsix
- Open a terminal to the directory containing the newly downloaded package.
- Run
code --install-extension git-graph-1.3.3.vsix - Restart Visual Studio Code
Apologies for the inconvenience, I'll make sure I flag beta releases appropriately in the future.
