We used to see very active development on this project, but not a single commit in the last 25 days ? There are a ton of open issues and PRs. Is there any expectations around when will development be resumed ?
Evan is focusing on Vue 3 currently. He will be back soon. Anyone who would like to contribute may help with the discussions in issues or reviewing PRs while leaving some comments. They will help Evan better reviewing the changes when he back to Vite. Thanks for your understanding.
I do appreciate a lot on Evan's hard work of Vite, but since Vite is not part of Vue ecosystem (it works for all frameworks and libraries, and has renamed from vuejs/vite to vitejs/vite), I hope Vite can be maintained consistently and independently from Vue ecosystem. I can understand Vue 3 may have higher priority than Vite for Evan so he doesn't have time on Vite for now, but maybe he can invite some person as co-maintainers which can merge some PRs or even develop some new features.
@antfu and @underfin are both working actively on Vite - they are co-maintainers. PRs being submitted that fixes issues is progress. Reviewing PRs in batches is more efficient for me, so I typically cycle my focus between major projects.
Also, if you want to help with the process, here are a few things you can do:
The last thing you want to do though, is opening an issue asking why the author hasn't been active. Adjust your expectations when you use open source software. Nobody owes you anything for providing this to you for free. Maintainers are entitled to maintain a project at whatever pace/priority that makes sense for them.
