If you have some metal and you only have around 10-15 seconds before the void overtakes you, you can simply build a girder, then a wall on top of yourself and by staying on top of it, since walls are unsimmed, you instantly have a pocket of air and safe atmos to stay in. I've tested this right on space tiles and the only time I died before I set it up was when I had absolutely no clothes.
I shouldn't be able to live like this.
Find a loving partner and marry them.
As long as walls have been unsimmed turfs, so forever.

Feature
walls are /turf/simulated/wall, but they're created with an atmosphere and ZAS won't let air move between them
they should just get the atmosphere of the turf they're created on
Yeah, walls are simulated, but their atmosphere doesn't interact with other tiles
You can exploit this to make compact atmos setups slightly more quickly than by using windows, depending on what you want on the tile
Anyway, yes, making them copy the previous atmosphere sounds like a pretty good solution.
We had something like this for putting plating on roid terrain so that it copies previous atmos
Could always cause people inside a wall to just start taking O2 damage.
