Vagrant failed to initialize at a very early stage:

I tried uninstalling Vagrant and start fresh, but I keep getting the same error msg

Deleting plugins and reinstalling them worked for me:

rm -rf ~/.vagrant.d/gems ~/.vagrant.d/plugins.json
