Please provide a solution to resolve installation issue or share the offline version of .NET Core for VS2015 Tool Preview2.

I had a similar problem, due I think to the installation of the framework 4.6.1 when previous version is present. In the visual studio updates I found Sql data Tools: I started the updated and it installed framework 4.6.1 ( strange after the installation of update 3 rtm ), but after this I checked that the preview 2 was not in the installed list program, installed it again and this time it worked.

@joeloff, can you take a look at @dinesh-r 's log?

I had this precise error updating this time my laptop: looks like using Clear Mef Cache Extension solved the problem

@dinesh-r There is no offline install. The EXE will download the items on demand during the install. Looking at the logs it appears that the installer cannot go online to download the required packages.

@joeloff i have exactly the same issue and i have internet connection, all Windows and Visual Studio updates works fine.

It worked for me.
Try working in command prompt
First download the DotNetCore.1.0.0-VS2015Tools.Preview2 and go to the folder where the installer file is located (for me it was in my downloads folder)
and use the command similar to the one below
DotNetCore.1.0.0-VS2015Tools.Preview2.exe SKIP_VSU_CHECK=1
This should skip the version check hopefully completely install.

@joeloff So.. is it just impossible to install the tool on a computer without access to the Internet?

I needed to install pre requisite separately, the installer failed to run it.

@zwcloud For now, yes. The installer will download everything on demand. Making an installer that's statically linked has other risks, e.g. it would create a huge file that's close to 1GB, and we've seen problems with files that size becoming corrupted when they are downloaded. There is an option to create a layout (downloading everything once), and then using the layout on multiple machines.

I have same problem here...
when I'm trying to download the MSIs(url from the log) manually, I got certificate error:

@kevinpengz I see this too. The cert error is something new. I'll follow up with the owners for the download centre

I ran into this issue as well. I was able to tediously work around it by downloading all of the necessary referenced installation files, running those first, and finally running DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe last.

Full steps:

Download .NET Core 1.0.1 tools Preview 2 but do not run it. If you've already run it, run it again and tell it to uninstall.

Download the following files:

https://download.microsoft.com/download/F/6/E/F6ECBBCC-B02F-424E-8E03-D47E9FA631B7/packages/aspnetcoremodule_x64_en_69.msi

https://download.microsoft.com/download/F/6/E/F6ECBBCC-B02F-424E-8E03-D47E9FA631B7/packages/WebToolsAzureVS14_rc1.msi

Execute them all in the order listed above (except for the .cab) file.

_Then_ run DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe once all of the above installers have been successfully run.

If needed, you can "unzip" DotNetCore.1.0.1-VS2015Tools.Preview2.0.3.exe using 7-Zip, open the file titled 0 and search for download URLs for the appropriate locale and version of Visual Studio.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the above technique may also work to install on a machine that's not connected to the internet.

@orand Any AV software that's running and potentially blocking the installer from downloading?

@joeloff Yes. All sorts of corporate junk. Kaspersky, Bit9, Carbon Black.

@orand It's easier to create offline installer as described here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt706497.aspx.

@orand Thanks for the nice solution! I wanted to add that for me, just downloading all files and putting them next to the installer was sufficient - I didn't have to execute all of them by hand.
