Terraform: Is there anyway to check if the resource is exist, then skip the create

I have many environments that share the same resource, like lambda, can I add the terraform lambda code to each environment, and check if the lambda function already exist, then skip the lambda creation part

Yes, this would be very useful for create modules with shared resources.
