Templating: 'dotnet new' doesn't list the template's version.

Steps to reproduce

dotenet new --list

Lists all the templates installed but doesn't list the version of the template. This is ok for the Microsoft templates (which I/developers will never touch/change) but for our custom ones (like the ones _we_ make and publish to nuget, etc), we can't see what version of the template is installed.

Expected behavior

• Maybe the version in the dotnet new --list but I understand if that's 'too busy' already.
• Definately the version in dotnet new <template shortname> --help.

How do I find the version in the mean time? I need to know exactly which template version I have installed from a third party.

Agreed, this would be super helpful since our users don't know which version they are using. We ended up having to bake the version into the package as part of the name to mitigate this.

Hi @PureKrome,
Thanks for the issue. By design, templates don't have version numbers. Packages do, which contain one or more templates. Please see #2909 for changes regarding this issue. Changes suggested by that work item aims to improve the experience around template versions.

@CumpsD, you can use dotnet new -u to get the versions of the "package" along with the list templates they contain.
