I have a suggestion for tdesktop: Add and option to place the contacts in the right side of the application.
I usually place the application maximized on the right side of the screen, and I have a small problem "the notifications appear over the conversation area". This forces me to close the notifications before I can write.
The solution is quite simple. Add an option to allow the user to select in which side of the application the contacts should appear
Take a look at the image

Or you can allow user to configure notifications' position.
Or you can allow user to configure notifications' show time.
Not necessary about the notifications, I think that an option to choose the side of the conversation bar is a good thing anyway
I'd like to minimize my contacts list.
Why are there notification (popups) at all when the client is not minimized?
@fyahfox is right. While the window is not minimized, the notifications will not appear, so your request to put the contacts list on right side is not quite good. I think It is on the good side right now.
I would really love to see the option of having the contacts list on the right side.
Not because of notifications, but because I'm running Telegram on the right outer edge on a 3x 42" 4K display setup arranged in a semi-circle around me, and the contact list on the left side is wasting valuable space in the middle of the screen.
@eFrysTon Why won't you resize contacts to compact mode then?
@stek29 because I still want to be able to see the preview and time of the last message that was received for all contacts. I have more than enough space on the screen to show the full contact list, it's just in the wrong place.
Telegram is running in the top right quarter of a 42" 4K display, so that's the equivalent of running it fullscreen on a 21" 1920x1080 display. (The top left quarter is running the windows store version of Skype, the bottom left X-Chat [channel tabs on the bottom, user list on the left], and the bottom right Trillian setup with the contact list on the right and a tabbed (on bottom) window with all open chats left of that.)
In that setup, the only thing that breaks the symmetry is having the telegram contact list right in the middle of the screen, with the other programs all having their user/contact lists and tabs along the outer edge of the display.
As I said, I think its a valid OPTION independent of the reason to want it.
I see no reason to argue with someone who want it, it will be a nice addition ._.
Maybe this can be changed to how some other applications works where you can move things from one place to another even make floating.
