This is intended. It can be done somehow better (for example, allow to see full preview by click) but currently no way for the text to flow around the image (like web and android do) - it is not implemented in tdesktop text renderer, so it will be like it is now for a while.

IMHO TDesktop one is better, I think that they all should have fixed size

I prefer the compact mode, in which some previews of links in TDesktop shown. Really it aims to show preview of the content and then access the link if it is of interest. I do not see as good a preview fills the screen space ... it's just a preview.
