Steps to reproduce:

  1. Moved trackpad from screen 1 to screen 2
  2. Did 3 finger up slide, 4 finger pinch

Expected: Missioncontrol or Launchpad to open
Actual: Nothing happened.

Versions (Synergy, OS):

Server: Mac OS 10.7 Lion - Synergy Pro 1.35RC w/ QSynergy
Client 1: Mac OS 10.7 Lion - Synergy Pro 1.35RC w/ QSynergy

Workaround:

Nope... anything other than mouse clicks do not work. I would love to see multitouch gestures supported.

I bought Synergy a few months ago and use it to share keyboard and magic trackpad between a Mac Mini server and a MacBook (client). As a Mac User who uses a trackpad and uses all of the gestures, this is extremely frustrating to the point of almost stopping using it (I'm s close). Even more frustrating given the video about how much more magic a Mac Magic Trackpad is with Synergy (guys - it's not - 90% of it's magic no longer works...). And frustrating that this has not been closed for such a long time.
I know everyone thinks that their bug is more important that the others -- but for Mac Users this is so annoying and so frustrating that it should, imho, be higher priority than some of the next extension functionality to support gamers or dragging files between windows, etc. THIS IS REALLY FUNDAMENTAL FOR MAC USERS..

If gamepad support is being worked on I think more emphasis should be put on multi touch gestures as they are becoming more and more ubiquitous.

To be clear, trackpad gestures are completely non-functional even on the server itself while Synergy is running. Synergy must be exited before gestures will work. This pretty much makes a Mac desktop with a trackpad unusable at this time.

Gestures on the server with synergys running work in 1.3.8, but it appears that that got lost in 1.4.

Just confirming the feature does not exist in 1.4.7 on OSX Lion. I am running 1.4.7 as the server on my Mac OSX Lion side and 1.4.7 as the client on my Ubuntu 11.10 side. Everything is great except no trackpad gestures are working mac-side. Much appreciated on the hard work and great software!

Revision 1175 introduced this problem. Reverting that commit from the source allows multi-touch gestures to work again on my MacBook Pro 17's trackpad.

An alternate fix would be to limit the allowed types to be NX_LASTEVENT + 2, as the three-finger swipes I am most familiar with (left and right swipe) are the next two values above NX_LASTEVENT.

Something I would like to add is that with this once the :NOTE: Ignoring Out of Bounds Quartz Event type: 0x1d [max 0x1c] shows in the log up and down scrolling with the magic mouse is broken as well.

Just tried with rev 1432 for mac 10.7, still not working. I'm seeing Has this been patched? I thought it was. I see in the log:

installed synergy on my MacBook (server) and Win7 PC (Client), was really excited about how seamlessly it was working until I discovered this bug. Trackpad and Magic Mouse are both out of business, is that patch available somewhere I can easily grab it, or when is the next release expected?

Thanks!

Does one of the daily builds have the patch? (tried the latest available as of 6/19 for mac but it still quits scrolling after a bit) Love synergy, and it's still easier to start and stop it when i need to access the peecee, but i'd rather not :)

Hey,
I tried the latest Mac nightly and the gestures still don't seem to work. What is this patch I am reading about? Any way I can contribute let me know.

Thanks!

The patch won't add any gesture support (I mean, the ability to send gestures to other machines). It will just avoid breaking gestures in the server machine when synergy is running (and cause issues like bug #3195).

Short guide (I'm on Lion 10.7.4. and it works);

  • Download and install latest beta (http://synergy-foss.org/it/download/?file=synergy-1.4.8-MacOSX107-x86_64.dmg), do all these steps with synergy closed.
  • I assume you already have installed latest XCode version from app store.
  • Install homebrew or macports (I used macports), and from that install cmake, either "sudo port install cmake" or "sudo brew install cmake" from terminal
  • Install wget if you don't have it (macports: "sudo port install wget", homebrew: "sudo brew install wget")
  • From terminal, "wget http://synergy.googlecode.com/files/synergy-1.4.8-Source.tar.gz", then "tar xvfz synergy-1.4.8-Source.tar.gz", then "cd synergy-1.4.8-Source"
  • "wget http://synergy-foss.org/spit/files/120414015309_fix_multitouch_gestures.diff" and "patch -p0 < 120414015309_fix_multitouch_gestures.diff"
  • "./hm.sh conf -g1" and "./hm.sh build"
  • "cd build/release" and "make" it should compile with no errors.
  • "cd ../../bin" and last step: "cp synergyc synergys /Applications/Synergy.app/Contents/MacOS"

You can now run synergy with gestures working.. hopefully!

Applied in r1547 (thanks to Bo Jordan). Sean, sorry that you were disappointed. We did some really experimental stuff in 1.4.9 and I didn't want to destabilize the release even more, so no patches went in sadly. I have applied the patch to 1.4.10, so tomorrow you can get access to it via the nightly builds: http://synergy-foss.org/nightly/

Running latest beta (1.4.10) on --> Server: 10.8.1 MBP --> Client: 10.7.4 Mac Mini

Gesture suport works just fine on my Server but I get nothing on the client side. Was this bug supposed to fix client side gesture support as well? Is there something in preferences that needs to be enabled?

  • Author: Jason Boyd
  • Date: 2012-10-05 20:43:08

I'm also running the latest beta (1.4.10) on --Server MacPro (10.7.4) to a client: 10.8.1 MacBook Air and the gestures don't work on the client. Should this be expected to work?

  • Author: Eli White
  • Date: 2013-02-02 16:19:10

I'm confused as with the other last two posters. This ticket was specifically for enabling gestures on the client. But that isn't working, it appears that the patch fixed gestures on the server, but not client?

  • Author: Alex Mault
  • Date: 2013-02-08 05:23:31

Yes, I can confirm. Gestures on the client side are not functioning. I am on nightly build r1693. Gestures work on server side but not client. (Server Mac 10.8.1) (Client Mac 10.8.1)

I can confirm same issue on my 10.8.1 machines with Synergy 1.4.10. Gestures work great on server, but I get nothing on the client. Do you want us to open up a separate issue to track that defect?

Nick: Any updates on this? I'm getting really frustrated with Teleport, because it's been inactive for a VERY long time as a project, and it keeps crashing/locking up on me. BUT, it fully supports gestures. I used to use/love Synergy in the past, but had to abandon it when I went to multi-gesture macs.

I am using Synergy 1.4.12 between MacBook OSX V10.8.4 and iMac OSX V10.7.5. Only clicks and 2 finger scroll are working on the Client side, Other multi finger gestures are not working. I am seeing no issues on the Server side gestures. Any patches available?

  • Author: Tim van der Horst
  • Date: 2013-08-14 03:29:51

I would be happy if I could just get some vertical multitouch scrolling support. Currently it only emulates the older notched-wheel scrolling and jumps around in large chunks at a time, which is very jarring in comparison to the smooth scrolling that the MacBook's trackpad or the Magic Mouse provide.

I would like to continue using Synergy, because I like it more than teleport. But it is frustrating to be unable to use gestures on the client side of Synergy. Is this issue in line to be fixed?

just installed on OSX 10.8.5, both client and server. 2 finger scrolling works on both server and client, so does 3 finger moving. I am missing 4 finger gesture support on the client for expose and fullscreen/space switching on the client. 4 fingers work on the server, but not the client.

  • Date: 2013-10-27 23:28:22

Yes the mutlitouch gestures don't work on 10.8 (Mountain Lion) 10.9 (Mavericks)- particularly frustrating trying to switch between desktops on the client Mac as Two-Finger swipe left or right does not register. Need to use Mission Control or [Command]+{LEFT/RIGHT].

  • Author: Yul Hardick
  • Date: 2013-10-27 23:37:26

Further to the last comment, I should note that I need to use the keyboard on the client for the Mission Control button and to slide desktops left and right. Special Fucntion keys not working with Synergy.

  • Date: 2013-11-08 14:09:40

Both client and server are OS X 10.9, both running Synergy 1.4.15.

Not seeing the smooth scrolling (as Tim van der Horst pointed, it's like the old notched wheel) and any type of multi-touch gesture generates:

NOTE: unknown quartz event type: 0x1e
  • Author: Ryan Gibbons
  • Date: 2014-03-25 21:00:45

Seems this also affects resizing with HyperDock (holding down Control Option Command + Click/Dragging window)

This is preventing me from using Synergy.

I think that synergy could has support to multitouch gesture for operation system like Ubuntu I mean when I do 3 finger up slide then I could bind it on a command or key, for example the super key.

Just want to add that I just updated to 1.5, and this functionality does not seem to work. Not sure if there is a new target or not, but this functionality would be a huge addition.

  • Author: Lubomir Kaplan
  • Date: 2014-06-14 13:35:38

I managed to create a extremely lousy patch for 1.5.0, which at least allows me to access Mission Control on remote Mac OS X computer. It seems there is no way of identifying multitouch/gesture event in Quartz CGEvent, so every gesture event is opening Mission Control with this "patch". I am posting it just for people who would like to at least access Mission Control, until this gets resolved. synergy_mission_control_workaround_patch.txt. I have tested this on Mac OS X 10.9 as server and Mac OS X 10.8 as client.

  • Author: Mark Casias
  • Date: 2014-08-27 14:23:19

1.5.1 still has this issue.

I would happily test this on 10.9.5 for both client and server if and when a fix gets applied to the latest synergy version. Lack of gestures on Magic Trackpad is the primary reason I won't download this currently. Watching this space for when an update is applied.

Just came back to Synergy after many years away, paid to use it remembering a previously good experience and have moved from a Solaris desktop primarily to Mac OS X for both server and client... and after 6 seconds of using it, I can tell you I am VERY keen to get gestures on the client working as well.. It wasn't something I even thought about, until I just tried and failed miserably to change screens with a quick swipe of the fingers.

Anything I can do to support getting this happening?!

same here,
been away for many years, and now just paid for the latest version of synergy to share keyboard and mouse between two mac. want the gestures to work. thanks.

+1 a bit of disappointment not seen this working.

+1 This would be a fantastic addition to see as someone who uses two macs. Lack of gesture support is inhibiting.

+1 for this feature. Also just paid and was very disappointed in not finding this feature to have been implemented yet. I have voted for this feature on the Synergy Premium page. Please do that yourself too: https://synergy-project.org/premium/

That would be useful if you have a premium account, which I promise to buy, only and if and when this feature is implemented. Without this feature, it is otherwise a useless piece of software.

I already donated twice and voted four times for this issue, but still this seems not to be worked on. A pity, as this lacking feature makes synergy nearly useless for Mac users. Trackpads are used on desktop machines as well, not everybody is sticking to old fashioned mice.

+1 for this addition. I naturally assumed i would work. At first i thought i had low batteries lol.

@nbolton The following link doesn't work:

http://synergy-foss.org/spit/files/120414015309_fix_multitouch_gestures.diff

Just found this issue after I detected that trackpad gestures didn't work on my synergy clients. Any idea which "Future" we are talking about here?
(OS X Yosemite 10.10.1)

+1 for gesture support. I used synergy a long time ago, then paid for the newest version today. Works great except for the lack of gestures, which have become essential since the last time I used synergy a decade ago.

+1. Ditto of what @jherrm has said.

This is an issue more than 3 years old. Sad to see that it's only regarded as and labeled as 'enhancement'. For Mac users using current hardware - and not only those using MacBooks - this is a requirement. I paid 40$ in the last 2 years in the hope that this point would be worked upon, but there seems to be no progress at all regarding this issue.

@sothawo Lets call a spade a spade! :+1:

Couldn't agree more. Very sad this is not getting attention. I paid as well in hope of using the software and supporting its development, but have found it not useful without this fixed... So stopped using it straight after starting.

Please give this feature some attention!

@onganet I'm so sorry we haven't fixed this bug yet, I'll go ahead and prioritize this for you.

We do our best to prioritize the hundreds of bugs reported to try and please the maximum amount of people, but sometimes we get it wrong and feedback like yours is crucial to helping us improve.

G'day Nick - Very much appreciate that, as I imagine everyone here does.

If we can get this working, it would be awesome! It solves a big problem for us all using Mac laptops and desktops.

Thanks for your help.

@nmadhok Good news! I dug around on the server and found this file for you. http://synergy-project.org/files/issues/120414015309_fix_multitouch_gestures.diff

User input is no longer constrained to mouse movement, a left and right click, a scroll wheel, and keyboard input. This is now merely the least common denominator. Apple (and others) have extended the vocabulary to multi-touch clicks/drags/swipes, inertial scrolling (in all directions), pinch-to-zoom, and soon even pressure-sensitive clicks. These gestures are becoming increasingly important in order to control a computer _efficiently_ and not being able to utilize them is becoming a handicap.

I think it's well advised to make it a priority to preserve the fidelity of these interactions through Synergy as much as possible. Obviously there will be limits due to differences in operating systems, OS versions, device drivers, etc., but the Synergy project should definitely try to avoid being that limiting factor whenever possible. In my opinion, the best possible praise Synergy can ever receive is that a user completely forgets they are using two different computers (because the experience of using Synergy is seamless.)

Or put another way: A product that purports to let you share your input devices between computers should follow through on that promise to the highest degree possible and not just deliver a small fraction of the available inputs. This is a good call. Bravo.

+1 on fixing this bug, quite annoying when gestures don't work on the second mac system. Thx in advance!

Same here... disappointed that this is not working properly. The "patch" only deletes some code that rejects unknown "events".
Why don't you add the gestures as recognized, or do delete that check.

+1 would very much like to see this feature as a paying user.

fix this, fix this. please!! :)

+1 I would happily pay again for this feature.

Prioritized even further

  • 1 on this. Absolutely need this feature.

:+1: very frustrating bug

:+1: Please add!!!

+1 Would also happily pay for this again. Can be very frustrating.

+1.. I just paid for the software. My workflow includes judicious 2 finger swiping with a magic mouse to change spaces. Need this! Everything else works great!

Also just paid for the software and now its not usable because gestures are 2nd nature in using my macs
Please priority +1 or as much as needed to get this on the fix now list.
If this is fixed ill happily go pro and pay the extra $19

Thx

+1 On this also. Announcement of OS X 10.11 this week has even more gestures.

The "three finger tap" aka "look up" function is disabled on _Mac OS X_ (_Yosemite_) while Synergy is running.

Once you quit _Synergy_, the tap with three fingers works instantaneously.

Is there any update/eta on this? I've been a long time Teleport user, but recently after upgrading computers teleport has gotten flaky and rarely works. I USED to be a synergy user, but left due to support of exactly this. I came back to try it out. And no, it still doesn't work.

This has now been fixed as part of the _OS X 10.11_ El Capital release.

Apologies for the confusion all, I should probably have been a bit more specific. The Three Finger Tap on the _Server_ host, is now working while having synergy running.

:tada:

@jinalshah could you provide more information? Does it require both update of synergy and osx, or just the osx? Was this fixed by accident by apple changing something internally?
I'm guessing not many people are willing to switch to preview version of os on production machines, so we would appreciate more details or source :)

Nonetheless, exciting news, thanks!

After doing some research on synergy, I came to this, and unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me. I would be willing to pay for synergy, if it supported gestures fully.

Apologies for the confusion all, I should probably have been a bit more specific. The Three Finger Tap on the _Server_ host, is now working while having synergy running.

I am not sure where to ask, but, can synergy support a magic trackpad (OSX host) to send multi touch events to Windows10(client)?

This feature seems is even more important now; both Mac and Windows 10 are implementing heavier gesture support than before.

I paid for synergy, however this still seems to not be getting much attention, despite more and more people asking for it, and Nick Bolton bumping the priority on 5 May 2015. If Synergy fixes this, I will likely come back. However, a donationware alternative - teleport - works well if you are only going Mac to Mac (which I am) and you want gestures to work. Gestures work great with teleport on the remote mac, in my last few days of using the software anyway....

Just paid for this as well. PC server -> macbook client. Would be awesome to have gestures work across the board.

Is there any update on this bug? Like many others in this thread I used Synergy a long time ago when it first came out...and I recently bought a new license assuming that gesture support for Mac would be included but was very disappointed to see that it was not. Using Magic Mouse and Trackpad gestures is crucial in my work and the lack of support in Synergy makes me want to consider other options for sharing my moue and keyboard :(

I'd like to add my support for this feature. I've paid for Synergy Pro and have been using it for years but only recently acquired a second OSX device. Pretty disappointed that synergy has no support for gestures as it is an essential part of my workflow

Just purchased Synergy. Pinch to access launcher and flicking to swap desktops don't work. This makes the product not useful. I'm going to get my hands on a second keyboard and mouse instead :( Inertia scrolling also doesn't work well, it's jerky. This certainly needs a fix. $10 down the drain.

I'm sorry we haven't got this fixed yet guys, if anyone has purchased and this is a deal breaker for them, please email me at [email protected] and we'll be happy to refund your purchase until we add gesture support..

That's good of you Malcolm. It sounds like you're working on it so as long as it's coming that's cool. I'd love to hear whenever there's a beta out with this feature so I can help test it

Is there a timeframe for adding gesture support? I too just added a second OS X box and also need it desperately.

Please please please implement thisssss +1

+1 for Client support multi-touch for Macs ...or refund please! Synergy doesn't do me any good if I can't switch screens (3 finger swipe) on the Client.

please add 2 finger swipe (for workspaces , mac)

Well- another +1 for gestures & proper scrolling on a mac client!

+1

FWIW, with a Magic Trackpad, a _two_ finger gestures (e. g. vertical scrolling) seem to work; it's just _three_ finger gestures (e. g. switching virtual desktops) that do not. Still a serious buzzkill.

ditto...

This was bumped to higher and higher priorities, but it's been on priority-next for a year or so. Is this even being worked on?

on a related note... though this should probably be a separate issue... none of the function keys seem to be working correctly... seems only the volume buttons work without holding function down, and the volume is working on the server machine only.

They proud themselves in being multi platform, but they're that in as an ASCII file is multiplatform. Feature less, basic, and not being developed on much at all.
The fact that abandonware is better suited is depressing.

Yeah, seriously need gesture pass-through on at least a mac server -> mac client setup.

Hello and thank you for Synergy!

I am loving that I can control my MacPro workstation using my MacBook keyboard and trackpad. However mates, the gesture support pointed out in Feature #2974 of version 1.4.10 doesn't seem to be working. Am I missing something?

Tried every gesture I can think of, bar the common two-finger vertical scroll.

MacOS 10.11.6 (15G31) on both Mac Pro (Late 2013) & MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2016)
Current installed Synergy version 1.8.2-stable-36cd521

Would be great to see this sorted before the two-year anniversary of this bug.

Yep, please fix this. Somewhat feel like I spent $29 for an unfinished product.

Words cant describe how disappointed I am to have scrolled through this entire 2 year old thread only to find out it still hasn't been resolved.

That's the way it is with this kind of software. It's probably very difficult to interface with apple's gestures. It's disappointing that there's barely been any acknowledgement even though we've been asking for a long time but I'm sure someone on the dev team has looked into briefly. I'm guessing the team is too stretched with software maintenance and bug fixing at the moment to implement new features. It's simply a matter of there not being enough money or willpower to do it.

  1. Trackpad/MagicMouse and another multitouch events. (Enhancement)

I mean on mac-like UI apps scroll (2 fingers multitouch), for example, works like "drag" effect in X and Y axis. So it is ok, how should work.
But SynergyServer on OSX captures that event and convert(send) it to SynergyClientOSX and emulate it like legacy scroll mouse wheel effect (lines). Not smoothly.
example

1.1. I think that because of the reason of paragraph 1 directions of scroll works differently than on original (server machine). Like a bug of events/handling (?)

For compare i have good example in two apps - VLCplayer and Finder (both, server and client, are OSX version):

Finder

On server machine Scroll Horizontal (2 fingers on trackpad) in Finder , but on SynergyClient in Finder not same - inverted direction scrolling. (?)
On server machine Scroll Vertical (2 fingers on trackpad) in Finder and on SynergyClient machine in Finder same!
VLC

On server machine Scroll Horizontal (2 fingers on trackpad) in VLC. And on SynergyClient in VLC same - OK.
On server machine Scroll Vertical (2 fingers on trackpad) in VLC but on SynergyClient machine in VLC inverse direction scroll ! (?)
And from which I conclude that the axis of the scroll work differently in different applications. In Finder X axis inverted, but Y is ok. In VLC X axis is OK, but Y axis inverted.

The primary gestures that are noticeable every day that are the most disorientating are the scroll gestures when using 2 macs. Two finger scroll should be the same on each system. That is why I have have switched to Scroll Mouse for multiple MAC usage. It has it's own issues, but they are not as in your face as the lack of proper scroll gesture support.

This is a great project, but I wish this would be given a bit more priority. This tweet gave me some hope a while back: https://twitter.com/symless/status/688067542838054912. Wondering what happened there.

@kryojenik I agree, adding proper trackpad support needs to at least be commented on by the Synergy team. That tweet from 11 months ago is great and all, but failure to address it here in the longest issue thread on GitHub is very frustrating. I know they advise to ask for refunds if recent buyer who is not happy, but I'd prefer they just add this fix, which should be priority number 1.

Well I just got a windows machine to do some development on for work and went ahead and bought Synergy as it's what I used years ago for windows <-> windows and now my swipes on the HOST are broken and my scroll works intermittently. ShareMouse is free and works fine (it's even less choppy that Synergy IMHO)

@kryojenik, @joshstrange : Share mouse has some really neat feature like zero-config that actually works, and being able to change "hosts" automatically (as in, you can use both client and host to control each other seamlessly).

But OSX gestures are also broken in that app. They don't translate from on host to the other, and even worse, they are triggered on the host computer even when your mouse is controlling the guest, which even more frustrating.

Really wish the devs here can find a way to translate OSX gestures from host to client. Pinch to zoom and scrolling work, but other things like 4 finger swipe and, force touches, and (aiming high here) BTT gestures from Mac to Mac don't work at the moment.

Still no word from the maintainers. C'mon guys, longest thread in issues, seems time to address this request.

Nothing was done yet about this? can we at least get an official positioning?

Would love this feature to be included! I just tried ShareMouse and it fully supports the Magic Mouse gestures, but the product is extremely flaky on Mac so I'm back to Synergy.

I too would like to see this bug get some attention. I'm sharing between two Macs, with several Windows VMs, so Magic Mouse gestures is a big deal to me.
-Thanks

I just purchased this product and love it until I found this same problem and found myself here. Where are we on this? I'm using a MacBook Pro server and MacPro client. Scrolling and gestures work fine on MacBook Pro (server) but no scrolling on MacPro (client) and this error in server box when trying to gesture on MacPro (client) "WARNING: unknown quartz event type: 0x1e".

I gotta add to this... I cannot believe I threw down my $ so willingly only to find out that my main iMac works great, but my two laptops and working with the VMs they run is frustrating beyond believe. Like, I'm about to find an alternative that DOES work. Let alone when there is a network hiccup, and trying to get them to talk again (SAME OS TOO!) - no gesture support is a deal breaker at this point for me. I hope I don't have to pay for an upgrade to get this feature.

Love Synergy; it's outstanding. This is a small rub, but I think it's in the same vein: when using two-finger scrolling gesture on my Magic Trackpad 2 (typing that…) on a macOS _client_ (from a macOS server), pages scroll at roughly twice normal speed (seems like incorrect inertia).

Certainly small rub but still there. I think most of us don’t even get the scroll function at all on the client Mac OS when using a trackpad...

@ausgemiwyk, sorry, I mistyped: I meant to imply my too-fast scrolling was, itself, a small rub by comparison to gestures not working. Mentioning it only because it's possibly related.

It is related. The two finger scroll is a gesture too. In this case, the server that the trackpad is connected to sees it, and translates it to a mouse scroll wheel and sends that to the client. That's why it is not smooth and each "scroll" event moves the screen a default of 3 lines.

Im using all macs too. I switched to ShareMouse (http://www.keyboard-and-mouse-sharing.com/) Not all the gestures are supported, understood. But the scroll is. Since that is used constantly, it is kind of a must have. The other gestures not working are less of an inconvenience.

@kryojenik, ShareMous is _really_ impressive. Setup was easier (it's peer-to-peer), there's no noticeable latency (frequently seen stuttering cursors and typing with Synergy), and—as you point out—scrolling works better (albeit no complex gesture support). If you don't need Linux support (I don't anymore), it's pretty close to perfect.

I reached out to sharemouse, and they have zero gesture support. I will say, that scrolling, for me, is fine... 3-finger dragging around the screen works fine as well. No lag, no jittery mouse. I also love the clipboard sharing, and the dragging from one desktop to the other.

Handy!!

The issue I'm really having a problem with, is getting my side notification center to come up, and swiping between desktops/VMs. But it sounds like everyone else is having those issues...

The setup was stupidly easy and I'm also using all macs. (SSH into *nix/VMs only for winblows) I paid for this software because it is the better of whats out there. Just need those two last gestures supported an I'll be smitten as a kitten.

I just downloaded Synergy, only to realize that gesture support is virtually non-existent. BTW, in response to some previous posts, two-finger scrolling gesture does work fine for me. I'm currently using the trackpad and keyboard built in to a MacBook Pro w/ an iMac as the client.

NOTE: gestures work perfectly fine on the server machine, even with synergy running...puzzling

I am stuck w/o having the gesture to swipe between virtual displays (3 finger swipe left-right). I imagine I can live w/o the others, although I would appreciate them.

anyone have updates?

I have 2 macs, latest OSx, and just downloaded the latest version. I have an external magic trackpad but issues on it and the internal trackpad where I can't pinch to zoom. Both 2 finger scroll and 3 finger drag work fine. Also, I have set swipe between spaces to 4 fingers but this doesn't work on the guest machine. Can we get an update on this? It must be possible to resolve this.

This issue has been open for almost 3 years. Are we ever getting gesture support? I can't see how you could release Synergy 2.0 without it.

Teleport can handle gesture support and hasn't been updated in ages.

not only that, there are a TON of people that commented and voted this issue up. This is crazy how they are just ignoring this feature. Too bad there isn’t another option on the market.

This software is unusable without three finger gesture working on non-server macs. Super disappointing, it's been over 2 years! I'm not purchasing Synergy 2 without this bug fix, you guys just lost a paying customer.

Been waiting on this functionality to work for so long now, and every time I've contacted Symless about this they say that they "can not provide any specific time frame on when this will be resolved", and then close my support ticket as if everything has been resolved. Very disappointing.

Bump again, I was painfully living with this when I had a PC as my client, but now that I have a second mac as my synergy client, it further pains me to understand that this is still an unresolved issue.

As this issue was originally opened against OSX Lion, I would like to confirm that 3.5 years later this is _still_ an issue on High Sierra & Mojave DB 4 -- of course I understand Mojave will be "unsupported" until it's official public release in September.

It’s actually an issue from 2011, as you can see in the first post.. it’s just imported to github, so, more like 7 years.

Also still an issue on El Capitan 10.11.6 :(

Is the teleport working between two MacBooks? I run on Catalina10.15.2

Works fine for me, after finally setting it up

Works fine for me, after finally setting it up

Would you have any tips on how to make it run? The latest version 1.2.1 I've found here: https://github.com/abyssoft/teleport/releases After opening it and allowing in Security & Privacy it doesn't do anything. It would help me tremendously making it work.

I recently installed Synergy and like everyone else here, I was baffled and disappointed to find that gestures were unavailable on my client computer. (Honestly... the copyright for Symless in the about screen is from 2012, and multi-touch gestures have been around longer than that.)

Anyway, I went to the helpdesk to request a refund an I noticed this post:
https://support.symless.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007326057-macOS-Gestures-Support-and-Special-Mouse-combo-keys
Promising multi touch support eventually... but it's dated July 9th (yesterday) and says that gestures "are in our roadmap"

I know there are _a lot_ of frustrated comments on this thread saying they gave up on waiting to see Synergy support gestures, but is this helpdesk post an acknowledgement that progress is actually being made on this issue? If so, is this expected as and update to v1 or part of the 2023 release?

I ask because like some other people here, I have tried Teleport (which is FOSS, but abandonware) and... despite the lag, the gestures support means I can use my client Mac like a Mac, and I don't have to change my workflow. I would _much_ rather give $40 to a project that is in active development and sees regular releases but this is an absolute dealbreaker for me.

Is there actually an update on this?

I gave up and went to ShareMouse. Bit more $ - but it works. JMTC

Bump for trackpad gestures support

I checked with the creators of ShareMouse - and they said that they could support only the 2 finger gestures to rotate and zoom. Other gestures weren't possible as the OS doesn't make them available.

So it appears that -- after waiting 7 years for this to get fixed on Synergy -- this might not even be possible???

"Does ShareMouse support trackpad gestures?

ShareMouse supports two finger gestures to rotate and zoom.

Multi-finger gestures are not supported at this time as the OS doesn't seem to allow reading out such commands. We will continue to monitor the situation and try to implement multi-finger gestures if possible."

Just gotta reverse engineer how Apple's Screen Sharing app does it... Can't be that hard right? 😹

teleport is free and supports gestures for everything. its even working on my macos11 beta. BIG props to whomever the genius is who wrote it.

ShareMouse isn't free. Isn't cheap. But it does work, and I use it daily.

Symless will never work IMHO.

Teleport worked - ShareMouse was better for my needs.

I will try teleport

Yey! - looks like our 10 year wait to share gestures across apple devices is nearly over -- Mac OS Monterey & iOS 15 will allow seamless sharing across Macs, iPads (& ?iPhones ) as a core OS feature later this year.

Yeah but how many functionalities will be stripped out in macOS Monterey
(sounds cheesy to me)? I don't even want Big Sur, there are so many
limitations and dropped features. :'(
