Hi folks,
I was wondering if anyone was thinking about making a "portable" version of
Synergy-plus for Windows - ala portableapps.com?
My use scenario is that I've got a work PC that I can't install Apps on (I
can run portable apps though :) ) Getting Synergy-Plus working in that way
would be amazing for me...sure others are the same.
Any chance?
Si
Thanks for the input! I concur that this would be very useful. Unfortunately we have lots of other more pressing
concerns to work on for now.
Please ignore this update. Just cleaning up issue status list.
Is there a guide anywhere on how to use the portable version?
Is it possible to provide a portable package of Synergy (for Windows 64-bit) yet?
This issue is closed, but there is no package for it available anywhere. Nick mentioned in the 1.4.11 release blog post (http://synergy-foss.org/blog/synergy-1-4-11-released/#comment-2647) that it wasn't publicly available at that time, but provided links to test builds, though all of those links are now dead and also no portable builds are available at the nightlies page.
Might it be possible to just move an installation from a non-restricted Windows to my restricted environment?
I could roll-my-own as I'm a software developer, but mainly using and targetting mainly Linux (but partly trapped in a corporate Windows environment), so I am a bit reluctant to go through the hassle of installing Visual Studio just for compiling Synergy.
Anyway, thanks for the effort.
We need to reopen this issue, As all link provided are dead.
Please Reupload! :-)
I second this. Missing portable Win64 version
I third this, I would really like a portable version as well.
Consider this another vote.
We're a small games studio with our own tools, and Synergy is a great way to get mouse + keyboard going on devices that are either finicky to get to support it or don't have it at all (e.g. consoles, mobile).
I'd be really happy if I could just bundle Synergy with our tools packages and get it to run when the tools start, as opposed to it being in the ether or not.
Any update on this?
I'd also like a portable version. I would like to use it with my work computer (to which I don't have admin rights) and my own personal computer, but without those rights, I'm out of luck. Cameyo is also of no avail.
+1 for a portable version
Please give us a portable version! Client laptops always come locked down and thanks to Nick I am addicted to Synergy
To whoever finds their way here - I was able to find a workaround to enable Synergy on clients without administrator access. Check out this forum thread here:

pdemro, do these instructions look like what you had?
FWIW, I've tried installing various versions (I haven't yet found the old 1.3.7 build for windows; I bet that would work as protable) and can't get any of them to work on their own.
Elsni from forums:
I'd like to run synergy on my company laptop to control my personal mac when I work in home office. But I have no admin rights.
Is it technically possible to provide a synergy version for windows which runs without installation and admin rights?
Thanks!
I work at university lab and I want to share the clipboard between my laptop where I have PDFs with documentation opened among other programms and the university lab computer. I don't have admin rights on the university lab computer (Centos 7).
Is there a portable version that I can use in this case?
+1 for portable version or at least a workaround to be able to use it on a pc without admin
