Hi,
Love the work you have all been doing! I'm going to hop on a new distro and try out the new beta to give you some feedback (I just got a segfault yesterday, I'll open a separate issue if it's a sway problem).
Would you theoretically be opposed to adding Rust code inside this project?
I was looking through some of the sway Github issues and some of them have to do with double-frees, buffer overflows, and all of the nasty bugs that C tends to facilitate and that Rust (usually) fixes. I was also looking at the code base and some of the data structures could be very much simplified using some of Rust's built-in ones and abstracted syntax. There is also a matter of maintainability and security, as other projects have noted.
I know this it would be a big new dependency, that I'm coming in with what could just be hype-driven development and that there may be some legitimate show stoppers that I'm not thinking of... I would completely understand why you would not want to take that risk right now.
Just wondering whether you have already discussed the matter and weighted the pros and cons of this integration/potential migration.
Thank you for your enthusiasm, but we're not currently interested in introducing Rust to sway.
@SirCmpwn Alright, completely understand. Thanks for your quick reply!
