Svelte: Improved discoverability of TypeScript support

Created on 10 May 2020  路  4Comments  路  Source: sveltejs/svelte

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It took me several hours to figure out I needed a preprocessor and to find svelte-preprocess

Describe the solution you'd like
Here's a list of issues and PRs I created to help address the issue:

Describe alternatives you've considered
I would really like to see svelte-preprocess move under the sveltejs organization and become officially maintained. Tools like TypeScript, PostCSS, SCSS, and Less are so widely used that it would be nice to have some official support for them.

How important is this feature to you?
Now that I've figured it out it doesn't affect me anymore, but it's very important to newcomers.

Additional context
If you Google 'svelte typescript' you're taken to closed issues without much explanation as to the current state of TypeScript support. It's nearly impossible to figure out and took me a couple days of research. I'm hoping this helps fix a bunch of dead ends, add missing resources, and generally improve discoverability

Hey, I wanted to comment here in support of your suggestions. I think they are at least a dozen people a day coming to Discord of Svelte asking about Typescript support and how to enable it.

Typescript, Preprocessors, IDE/Editor Plugins should be mentioned and explained on the svelte.dev website and link to the most up-to-date github issues explaining it.

This is the same with the routers - a lot of people come to Svelte excepting it get a fleshout solution. It should be stated somewhere that there is no official support routers and point in some direction.

I strongly believe that Svelte.dev website should be the place where people find anwsers to these FAQs.

Is Anyone working on This?

Closed via the Svelte FAQ and moving svelte-preprocess into org.

@himanshuraj9062 most of the sub-tickets have been completed. Feel free to work on the couple that are still open
