For the GH profile - I put them there to be more visible. And if one day I'm part of more than 4 organisations - the idea is to give a shout-out to the "best" 4

Yes of course. I myself do like a picture on a resume. Just so I can get a bit of an idea of who I can expect. I myself (like you may have seen already) also use a picture in my resume.
