Since upgrading to 77.1, downloads of snapshots fail.
Stated reason by Chrome is that it needs authorization.
Same here.

Yeah same here, it used to be so simple to backup on the phone with this
Can confirm that this is still a bug on 0.77.2. Seems to be an issue with users as users on 0.76 would cause the same problem.
what I did was to rightclick on the download button and copy link

You will have a link like this, were you need to change UNDEFINED for your password
http://xxxxxx.duckdns.org:0000/api/hassio/snapshots/8434e65c/download?api_password=undefined
Hope this help before the fix
Yes, but if you have disabled API password, it won't work.
+1 - having same issue and with this config (non-relevant bits removed)
homeassistant:
auth_providers:
- type: homeassistant
http:
#api_password: !secret http_password
even the manual replacement of a password does not work
@robin13 It won't change this issue, but you should no longer be using auth_providers: in your configuration. Also, your api password is commented out.
+1, I'm using hangouts in my configuration.yaml, I saw something mentioning it in a search but it's a broken link now.
Tried re-enabling api_password under http: and then right-clicking the link and modifying the password, no luck.
Update: No luck with commenting out hangouts integration. Re-disabling api_password now, I'll just pull the SD card and get it off there.
+1 0.77.3 - download fails - can copy link and insert real api_password to get the download to work as api_password is set.
Just upgraded to 0.79.0 from 0.76.2 same issue here.
Workaround is to use the Configurator add-on with HassIO. The .tar files are located in /backup and can be downloaded from there. Look at the timestamps of the files to identify the backup you need.
Yep, you can also just copy the snapshot from samba, but the UI download should still be fixed.
+1 having same issue with HA 0.80
Same issue on 0.80.3
Same issue, watching.
Same issue on 81.6
Same issue, watching thread.
Same Problem with GUI download 82.0
Same issue on 0.82.1
It sounds like hassio needs to be migrated over to the user login system to pass this type of information.
How can we make this gem easier to find?

FYI Downloading snapshots appears to work again in 0.86.X not sure exactly when it was fixed.
Correct, this has been fixed!
Thanks for the reminder, closing this issue.
My downloads from Hassio's snapshots fail after about 50 MB
Hi there,
I am running 0.91.4 and never been able to download a snapshot from the front end.
Am I doing something wrong?

I just click on the downward arrow but nothing happens...
My downloads fail after ~ 10,3 MB in version 0.92.0
Edit: when I'm downloading over my local network, everything works as it should - this only happens when I try to download the snap over the (slower) Internet.
Maybe a timeout-setting or something like this? Can anybody help?
Same issue: No Snapshot Download on 0.92.2,
My downloads fail after ~ 10,3 MB in version 0.92.0
Same here: around 16MB is the best I can get before the download stops
