Yes, leaving a note, best with a photo is the correct way to solve this case.
The assumption about the direction is derived from actual GPS traces of vehicles that went down that road in the direction indicated.

Though I see on the screenshot, the text shouldn't be there, that's a bug.

Thanks @westnordost . Although that wording to me is crying out for an "Other Answer" of "Yes it's one way but it goes the wrong way", even if it just tells you to leave a note.
