Thank you so much for such a great software for linux. I first used this in linux mint 18.1 and found that recorded video has lot of screen tearing. than I switch to ubuntu mate, and found no issue in that distro.
Today I tried ssr again with linux mint 18.3 and found same screen tearing problem. I did a search on internet and found lot of guys are facing same problem. Here is a video recorded with ssr in linux mint, you can check screen tearing.

This problem exists with all window managers based on Mutter (the GNOME 3 window manager) including Cinnamon. It is the result of a synchronization problem between the X server and the window manager, this is not something I can fix. OpenGL recording is not affected by this though.
If you use intel hd graphics as video card, this problem happens, on linux mint, this seems to be from the "xserver-xorg-video-intel" package wich from newer intel processors is unnecessary, i uninstalled it and now works perfectly
I had never heard of that. Good to know!
@MaartenBaert Thank you. So I will face this issue in ubuntu 18.04 (because that will use GNOME)
@gabrielfern Thank you for your reply, I will try your solution.
tell us if the screen tearing was gone with this @shahmoeen , when i was searching for a solution for this, i found the "xserver-xorg-video-intel" as the problem, in a forum that i can't remember and in other site as a tip for perfomance improvements (on hd graphics) afaik the "xserver-xorg-video-intel" is for backward compatibility, you can always install it back if you had problems.
i am wondering if disabling compositing in cinnamon (mint) stops the tearing
removing the "xserver-xorg-video-intel" package solved the problem, thanks @gabrielfern
I can also confirm the xserver-xorg-video-intel was source of the problem in my case.
Linux Mint 19.1 on E7450 laptoop with Intel HD GRaphics 5500.
