Sqlitebrowser: Storing passwords for encrypted databases?

Created on 16 Aug 2018  路  4Comments  路  Source: sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser

Hi,

first off, thank you very much for the project! I've been using it for a long time and have been and still am and most likely will be very satisfied with it. :-)

As I could not find any way yet, my question is whether it's possible to store/remember the passwords for encrypted databases (SQLite/SQLCipher in my case), so one doesn't have to type them in every time they're opened?

If it's not, then that shall be my kind request: If possible/feasible, please consider providing the option to store passwords for encrypted databases. :-)

Thank you.

Kind regards

Julian

OMG! Someone else had the same wish as me, and your name is Julian as well (Mine is Iulian, which translates to Julian in english). 鉂わ笍

And it also works on Windows which I couldn't test myself at all. 馃帀

If you use one of our nightly versions, then the storing of passwords via a .env file should be possible. See this pull request: #1404

You'll, of course, need the SQLCipher version of DB4S, but that should be obvious... ;)

The nightlies can be downloaded from here:
https://nightlies.sqlitebrowser.org/latest

Obviously, that depends on your operating system... the nightlies aren't built for every OS.

Thank you very much, got the latest build for win64 and it worked on the first try!
Hope to see it in a stable build soon. ;-)

Thanks for confirming. Tip your hat to @revolter who worked tirelessly to get this sorted! 馃憤
