Thank you for the feedback. Let's take the licensing piece out for clarity. Is there a way to create a Basic Availability Group using Developer Edition?
Hi @matt-k11, thanks for contacting Microsoft! I don't believe you can, but let me double check to confirm.
Thanks!

Hi @matt-k11 , thanks for your patience as we researched this! I tested it just to be sure, and no, you cannot create a basic availability with a developer license. Attempting to do so results in an error saying it is not supported by the developer edition.
If this behavior is causing you a business issue and/or you feel that it should behave differently, please feel free to file a feedback item at https://aka.ms/sqlfeedback and our engineering team will be happy to triage the issue.
I am going to close out this Git Issue for now but please feel free to comment should you need anything further.
Thanks again for reaching out and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
