I have a Spring Boot app that may run on AWS, and if it does, I'd like to have it pull in ParamStore so I can put credentials there, so I was trying to use spring-cloud-starter-aws-parameter-store-config.
Since not every invocation will run on AWS, I set the application.properties to include:
# Only Enable on AWS
aws.paramstore.enabled=false
But when I run tests, these fail:

I'm clearly not the only one hitting this issue:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53080197/how-to-disable-aws-parameter-store-autoconfiguration-for-tests
But I don't want to have to add a property to every Spring Boot test that's already in my application.properties; is there a better way?
Spring Cloud version: v2.0.1-RELEASE
Loose relation to issues like #279.
No, we do similar for consul, config client and zookeeper.
For others coming here like I did initially.
I have the same scenario. We use Spring Boot, but except for the parameter store integration we don't use anything else from Spring Cloud.
But for Spring Cloud n00bs like myself it is relevant to know that unlike Spring Boot, Spring Cloud creates a bootstrap context. And when you pull in the parameterstore config you also get this behavior in your Spring Boot application.
So in order to be able to disable the parameter store integration when you run your tests - you can add a src/test/resources/bootstrap.properties file with the aws.paramstore.enabled=false in it.
That file will be picked up by the cloud config for the bootstrap context and effectively disable the parameter store integration before any of the test contexts will be created.
This is probably common knowledge to people used to configuring Spring Cloud - but anyhow is quite simple to fix.
For more details on bootstrapping see https://cloud.spring.io/spring-cloud-commons/multi/multi__spring_cloud_context_application_context_services.html#_the_bootstrap_application_context
