Description

When i want to download a playlist of around ~100 songs.
Every single one of them takes a lot of time.
At first it jumps to ~40 % with >2000 KB/S then getting really slow until 100%

So, actually this seems to be a question, not a feature request.
There are a lot of possible causes, none of these are under our control. Which means, we can't do anything about it.

• Your ISP slowing down the connection speed
• YouTube servers slowing down the connection speed
• Same for Spotify servers

Actually, YouTube servers are responsible for this instead of Spotify.

Yep, YouTube is up to something fishy. I tried downloading few songs and also directly with wget, they seem to be throttling download speed on my side as well.

Here is a relevant tracking issue: mps-youtube/pafy#199. I'll re-open this so that people know that devs are trying to find a workaround for this issue.

For anyone who stumbles here. This issue has been fixed in pafy. Install the latest development code for pafy with:

$ pip3 install git+https://github.com/mps-youtube/pafy.git -U

And there should be no more throttling.
