Sortable: Touch Drag with Animation Broken - uses wrong offset after changing positions

When touch-dragging with animation, the dragged item (ghost?) resets to it's original location with the wrong touch-offset after the item changes positions. Please see screen recording, below.

_This does not happen in mouse-mode, or if animation is disabled with touch. I have not been able to reproduce this from the examples or sandboxes and am carving up my project to identify the cause. Any input on what could be causing this would be appreciated._
