There is a difference in the structure of the slider depending on use of uncompressed or compressed script.
Base (uncompressed): http://jsfiddle.net/simeydotme/fmo50w7n/
Compressed: http://jsfiddle.net/crstauf/8mtwm0ab/1/
If you inspect any of the slides, you'll notice on the compressed version, there is only text inside of .slick-slide (https://cloudup.com/c1fCDkMLNXt); however, on the uncompressed version, there are two additional divs added (https://cloudup.com/clh4YBfdygA).
We only load the compressed version on the production site, and use the uncompressed version on dev sites; this unexplained difference causes problems with the display on dev sites (that use the uncompressed version).
Are those additional divs a bug, or is the compressed version outdated? Which version is the correct version: compressed or uncompressed?
+1 here. Those divs are breaking my styles, and in some cases causes a issue in the dots with more than 1 carousel per page. I'm trying to find a workaround.
+1 for this. We are getting this same issue on production and not on dev environment.
Likely to do with this PR that made it into 1.8.1:
https://github.com/kenwheeler/slick/commit/34612b42641e8fd4250f70666a8da67eb624d002
See discussion here:

Set the rows option to 0 and the extra wrapping divs will go away
@kenwheeler @ahmadalfy Has Slick been abandoned? Last closed PR was Nov 2017 (#3236)...?
