My quick guess. It doesn't stop but when you hover over the slider it will pause. pauseOnHover is on default true. So try to click a dot and move your mouse somewhere else than the slick slider. Does it still occur?
@nielsvantilborg
it still occured. what happed to me was a situation that after clicking, i hovered to antother area.
the silder still paused until i clicked anthoer area in document.then the silder began to slide.
Same problem here.
Actually is starting autoplay after a while again.
In addition it has the same behavior at dragging, when you change the slide.
Maybe something wrong with the focus?
This must be a valid issue. The use case is -
This would explain an issue am having in https://www.provincetown.com/ where slick is used on the banners (The header of the page). The slider works perfectly until you click on one of the banners. The moment you click on it, it sends the user to another tab but it also stops the sliding effect of slick. It takes around 30 seconds once you come back to the page for the actual slider to start working again. If I stay on the other tab longer, the slider will not continue until I come back.
You can test this out yourself in the site mentioned above.
So maybe something of an option like "pauseOnAnotherTab" to false so when, even if in another tab, the slider will still continue.
Hi
I've been having this issue for quite a while, and believe i just found a workaround :-)
$('#latest-news-wrapper').on('beforeChange', function(event, slick, currentSlide, nextSlide){
$('#latest-news-wrapper .slick-dots li').removeClass('slick-active').attr('aria-hidden','true');
$('#latest-news-wrapper .slick-dots li button').focus(function() {
this.blur();
});
});
This solved it for me.

Thanks.
Nice hack there Doronily, I' ll try to fix it the same way in case of user drag. (draggable: true)

Just as a additional note:
I also faced this issue, the problem was, as you click on a dot, the dot gets the focus, so setting _PauseOnFocus_ to false solved the Problem, and autoplay continues... ;)
