Friends uninstalled / didn't install Signal because they can't choose dark/black theme.
Chatting (tired) at night is a horror with white screen :-)

@peterpanondrugs AFAIK, Messages app, Facebook Messenger, and Snapchat don't have dark themes. I wonder why your friends refused Signal because it didn't have a dark theme, when most other texting apps don't have dark themes either.

The Wire app for iOS has a built in dark theme, which gets some descent reviews too 👍

Lots of apps I use on iOS have dark mode: twitter, reddit, irccloud, kindle. Please add this option to Signal!

Please only use Github for reporting bugs, and take a look at our contribution guidelines before posting here again.

We definitely hear the desire for dark theme - but we don't announce features until they are ready. If you're really curious, development is done in the open so you can follow the commit log. Responding to requests for status updates on GitHub just spams all of our repository subscribers who we rely on to help triage bugs.

Very much missing the dark mode I’m so accustomed using on the desktop app. Please implement.

This issue should be reopened until the feature is implemented or closed as won’t fix.

Asking contributors to post on a forum to request consistency with the desktop app is contrary to any QA/release process I’m aware of.
