What happened: Folder not deleted because subfolder contains .png files which should have been deleted.

What I'd like to know:
I double check the Screens and file permission and they are no different to the files which are moved out. From the dir /s above the main mkv file is moved to the correct location and the .nfo is deleted but the Screens subfolder and subsequent images remain.
This never used to be the way SR worked as in the same log file there are references to Screens folders but they have always been deleted and notably only an issue since the update of 2017-01-27 which is the first reference to not deleting due to screens folder not being deleted.
Is there a new setting or parameter I need to set?

same here. Seems this regression got introduced with the rewriting of the post processing handling.
i've configured SR to remove all .srr/.nfo/... but the top folder from unpacking remains with all unwanted content. The episodes are processed correct however.

Just jumped on to see if this was already reported, awesome, mine is also not deleting the "Sample" Sub directories and some other random files that would normally be deleted.

@miigotu Can you do a brutal fix, like if a file is successfully processed and Delete associated files is ticked then delete all subfolders?
Not a coder, so only a suggestion.

@miigotu could it be related to the postProcessor.py based on file_path_list?
As from the debug the 'Found the following associated files' only lists the files in the folder being process and doesn't seem to identify other subfolders or subfolder files.
The not need files are deleted at this stage right?
later the processTV.py identifies there are subfolders present and they aren't empty

I did a manual post process with move set, it did move the file but also gave a warning because the file already existed. The episode being processed was listed as snatched in the database and the status didn't change even though the file existed. Re-scan files resolved database issue.

Looks like issue #3220 could be related to this one.
At least when I went on to look in my Post Processing Dir, it's full of undeleted folders. The commonality among the undeleted folders are that they contain folders or files:

The file is moved (errors and warnings as previous post) to the folder but also the database isn't updated to recognise the file is actually there. The db shows snatched.
Net status - worse than having leftover subfolders.

In some cases, the postprocessor will deliberately do nothing with the download but report that it did, without checking against the database.
For example, when the video file in the download dir is the same size as the one in SickRage library.
Maybe this is the case in your last comment. Or it could be just failing to even get to the part of updating the database because of previous errors.
I think you should test with a new show not currently in your database and with the changes in #3233.

@BKSteve Yeah, the outcome didn't change because nothing in the code changed in the last couple of commits. I haven't checked thoroughly but I still think the errors are what's keeping it from doing the database update. For now, you just wait for the next update...

@BKSteve - in the meantime just babysit and do a rescan on the series that pull down episodes then have an issue - at least it brings them in this way. While we wait to test the next commits, at least your db will get updated. I use plex, so I do a rescan there as well, and all is as it should be...
Patience is a virtue - with all the SR contributors do for us, we owe them nothing less :-)

Just a theory - not tested. I have, in my SR config (Post Processing section) ticked both 'move associated files' and 'delete non associated files'. Reading that log, it seems to me that the post processor may be deleting the file before trying to move it, hence it is no longer there, and thus throwing the error? Perhaps we could confirm by switching off one or both of those?

It seemed to work for me with an nfo, mkv and a screens folder, in a rar. All was deleted with the latest changes to develop.

I suspect its the same cause of the rar being deleted before they are processed. Files shouldnt be deleted until processing for that file is totally completed.

See, the problem is when this line in list_associated_files is hit:

So sickbeard.MOVE_ASSOCIATED_FILES is True,
but NFO/TXT whatever the file that is failing isn't in sickbeard.ALLOWED_EXTENSIONS.
so it deletes it before getting the chance to move it.

That's why I now think that there's just an inconsistency between what list_associated_files decides to allow and what it deletes, and what _combined_file_operation is later trying to move (or do with it).

You were only setting file_path_list to the file_path_list_to_allow when there were file_path_list_to_allow, otherwise it returned the full list ^^

That explains why it was hard to reproduce, since it only raised when there were files to delete but no files to allow.

I suspect its the same cause of the rar being deleted before they are processed. Files shouldnt be deleted until processing for that file is totally completed.
Generally speaking, let's say the extracted folder was processed successfully.
Do we _always_ delete the rar files?
Or only when _method is move_ - like all other files?
Because if I'm downloading a rar'd release, and I'm seeding the torrent -
I wouldn't want to delete it until I'm done seeding.

I've just noticed that d/l ed episodes Folders are not still not deleted for me.
After the ep is moved to the target the sample Video as well as nfo srr and sfv are kept with the folder.
Should the fix work out of the box or is there a Special Post-processing config i Need to do

Thx for the screenshots. Not working for me, my setup is different however:
Use nzbtomedia for postprocessing in sab. SR will never see the rar file this way.
I only want to move the ep and delete anything else so I keep the associated exts empty and the "move associated" tick unset. Given these settings the folder is kept with nfo srr sfv and a sample mkv

Fill in the associated ext box and tick move ass. Â Doesn't really matter that you have another level of pp - sabnzbd does similar for me and once Sr does its thing just the episode is moved and everything else deleted - works beautifully

@miigotu Thanks again for your comment. My current setup is as per screenshot attached earlier. I will check once the next ep gets processed if the folder gets deleted after processing. and the do another test.
and besides: Maybe the options on that configuration item are all a bit overwhelming to me. they look like a lot of bits and pieces moved from an old piece of software to handle some extremely specific situations. (just my opinion when i see "do" and "dont" options on the same config item)
This might be off-topic and more to start about the configuration as such (from a "Joe User" perspective that is)
1) Why would i have to flag "delete empty folders". What is the sense in keeping them opposed to keeping non-empty folders? as long as my wanted files (extensions) are moved i don't mind deleting even non-empty folders.
2) i think a field "keep associated files with extension" is all i need. All the rest will be deleted and forgotten. Why do i have to use a tick mark to enable it instead of simply filling the box.
3) What else than deleting files i don't want to keep should happen? For me the "delete non-associated" files field would suffice for all use-cases i can think of
all in all a simple text entry "move/keep associated files with extension" as a comma separated list should be sufficient to fully process and then delete the folder.
The only check that of course has to be done is:
has there any video file (possibly by known extension or how thats done right now) been processed into the target folder. this check simply reflects into a success or failure status triggering the deletion of the folder in the first place.

Because some people use a subfolder for more than one thing, And some people want the extra files left behind so they can check for things like subtitles or other files that dont normally match.
Just because YOUR use case would only require one setting does not mean that is one size fits all.

I have updated to the latest master build and I use nzbtomedia to postprocess using sickrage and have the same issue with folders not being removed.....it seemed to all start around the same time as this bug was reported and had previously worked correctly. I have double checked the settings described and they all seem to be correct.
