Created on 29 Jun 2016  路  11Comments  路  Source: dherault/serverless-offline

We're currently moving ahead with the first alphas of V1 of Serverless (http://blog.serverless.com/serverless-v1-0-alpha1-announcement/) and we'd love to include the serverless-offine plugin as part of Serverless as well. Would be great to chat about this in more detail soon. You can also reach me at [email protected] or we can chat here in the issue

Hi @flomotlik, since I got my new job I find it difficult to maintain this project that has lost some code quality over time.

Do you want to merge it into Serverless, move it to your org or keep it as is? The 3 solutions are fine with me.

We would love to work with you on making this better in the future (happy to pay of course) but if thats not an option for you at the moment moving it into our own org and then integrating it into the core itself would be the best steps imho

But, you are basically a VIP in our eyes, @dherault, and we would very much like to chat with you. Everyone is loving this plugin :)

Ok. I live in Paris, France so I hope we'll find some comon time window. You can contact me however you like using the same handle on other social media websites. I'll send an email to Florian as a starting point.

@flomotlik @ac360 Do you still wish to take over the plugin?

Hey guys, I wanted to play with v1.0.0-beta.1 so I ported this plugin, it wasn't that hard.

https://github.com/mikestaub/serverless-offline/commits/master

Most of the core is unchanged, just needed to rearrange some stuff. I'm still waiting on https://github.com/serverless/serverless/issues/1593 to test with custom templates.

IMO this should definitely be a core plugin, as it is essential for dev iteration speed.

@mikestaub nice, great job on this one. We'll review the changes. We're still discussing the offline plugin and including it into the core. One of the main issues as that we're starting to get more and more users of different languages and this would be strictly NodeJS based. Thats the main thing holding us back from including it straight into the core (and might want to put this into our community repo which will be very present for every user and easy to add new plugins)

If there was a new version of this plugin that supported all languages and was included in the core, that would be a huge boon to the serverless framework.

Once the community plugin repo is online and custom velocity templates are supported, I will gladly revisit this and submit a proper PR.

PR merged :) The plugin is now v1-ready! Thanks guys!
