Server: Projects Manager

Currently you have to click on a file that is part of the project to see the project and its elements.
You quickly lose track of existing projects and associated elements.
It would be helpful to have a kind of project manager in which you have a complete overview of existing projects, where you can edit them and where you can create new projects.

1. to develop enhancement projects

A list with links to the projects in the left side panel could be one idea to implement this. Similar to how it is handled with shares, the list would only expanded if you click on it.

cc @juliushaertl, do we have the last meeting data somewhere?

we do indeed. Putting this ticket on hold.

On the Activity app end, Project activity is not visible yet -- see this issue. Hmm, the link @langfingaz posted no longer works.

Here are a couple options for projects in the Files app:

  1. Add a UI emblem to the Files UI for project folders, as it is done with shares.

  2. Add a written description, as it is done in shares. This would cover files and folders connected to project. _Linked_ could be an apt descriptor.

For project management, more than anything, I'd love to access the various parts of a project as an embedded, interactive grid view.

Embed markdown and text files so they are visible in preview mode.
Embed media files and be able to playback if audio or video, just like if you shared them externally.
Embed Deck boards and Talk Conversations, so they can be accessed within this same view.

I realize that is a lot, but it would be extremely practical!

@sunjam This indeed to access the various parts of a project as an embedded, interactive grid view would bring NC to a fantastic level very needed to manage file, folders and talk.

Really with Projects that lars-becker find ` a bit clumsy to me as it is cumbersome to add many files, chats, decks etc. https://help.nextcloud.com/t/circles-or-groups/59003/7?u=andrimont, still that is the ONLY real approach to

Connect items to a project to make them easier to find

As the use of NC become very important in Europe & the world, this aspect of Projects is a key for more professionnal people in their daily work.

It would be great if I could share a whole project with someone and wouldn't have to share every part individually. A project manager would be a native place to do this.

I think the scetch of @langfingaz looks really nice.

It seems to me that two valid ideas are in this issue.

The first one is the one at the beginning: having a way to manage the different projects I can access to.

The second one is the one proposed by @sunjam : having a way to manage the different things within one single project I can access to. Maybe this second one, if @jancborchardt agrees, would need/merit a different issue here on github...

Perhaps #20930 dashboard views, as proposed on that thread, could also be applied to project management.

In my opinion a project manager will be inevitable for Projects to become a killer feature.
I already posted this in the"missing apps + features"topic on the community forums.
The way i see it Projects should be an app with a section in settings under "Personal" as well as "Administration" which allows for creating Projects and assigning users to them much like with external storages.
So creation and assigning of global projects defined by the administrator as well an option for as personal projects.
Also it should be possible to assign (group)folders, external storages, decks, talk conversations (maybe a predefined lobby), a calendar, tasks (anything else?) to the project, thereby optionally allowing assigned users access to (all of these) these items and creating a project team. Maybe on the user site Projects should be accessible easily from the left bar or something alike.
