Sails version: 0.12.14
Node version: 8.9.4
NPM version: 5.6.0
DB adapter name: sails-mongo
DB adapter version: 0.12.3
Operating system: Mac OS 10.13.2

I recently upgraded my laptop to the latest LTS release of Node (details above). After doing that, I am unable to install all my NPM dependencies for my Sails.js project. I get the following error when I try to run npm install:

I can't seem to figure out what is happening. I also ran npm cache clean --force, rm -rf node_modules and installed my dependencies again with the same result. Any help in resolving this issue is appreciated!

try this out please

@sgress454 You're right! Sorry for the unnecessary GitHub issue. package-lock.json was the issue. I just removed it and installed my dependencies again. Thanks!

Hi @nagarjun! It looks like you missed a step or two when you created your issue. Please edit your comment (use the pencil icon at the top-right corner of the comment box) and fix the following:

  • Verify "I have tried all the following (if relevant) and my issue remains:"

As soon as those items are rectified, post a new comment (e.g. “Ok, fixed!”) below and we'll take a look. Thanks!

*If you feel this message is in error, or you want to debate the merits of my existence (sniffle), please contact [email protected]

Ok, fixed!

@nagarjun Thanks for posting, we'll take a look as soon as possible.

Hi @nagarjun, this definitely sounds like a Node / NPM issue rather than a Sails issue. A quick Google reveals that a lot of folks run into this when running in a VM with insufficient memory -- if you're in a VM, maybe try bumping up the memory allocation. Also, if you have a package-lock.json file, try deleting that and _then_ rm -rf node_modules && npm install.
