Rubygems.org: @rubygems twitter account no longer running, webhooks are broken?

Created on 23 Sep 2016  Â·  12Comments  Â·  Source: rubygems/rubygems.org

Sorry if this is the wrong place to report the problem, or if the problem isn't with RubyGems.org, but I've noticed that the rubygems twitter account hasn't been tweeting for a few days now: https://twitter.com/rubygems

It says in the description that it runs off webhooks, are webhooks not working for whatever reason?

September 17th was the day that rubygems-twitter died ...

(Sorry for being somewhat melodramatic, I just wanted to get in the date of when the rubygems.org-twitter last worked.)

Everything seems fine on rubygems.org side. global post request: https://requestb.in/xbon8pxb?inspect

Ah, so I suppose this is a problem with the @rubygems twitter account itself? Does the project have control over that account or is it unrelated?

EDIT: Sorry if that mentioned anyone by accident, I forgot GitHub does that D:

I think we do. Trying to track it down since it has been a while since we
touched it last.

We figured out what was happening. The app posting to twitter has hit some limits due to misconfiguration. We got things moved around and it's working now!

Yay! Thanks :)

the bird stopped tweet again, last tweet Mar 3, 2019.

We actually disabled the twitter feed on purpose. We didn't feel it was useful anymore and it had become a way for people to post spam to twitter.

@dwradcliffe what about to delete that account or at least tweet info about stopping the service (alt. you can update account info to mention it is not active anymore)?

Yeah, I think we were talking about using the account for something else and then never got around to it. Good idea though, I'll try to update it when I find the credentials.
