Rspamd: Official Fedora RPM

Created on 5 Aug 2017  路  20Comments  路  Source: rspamd/rspamd

Hello @vstakhov and contributors,

I would like to get rspamd into fedora's official repositories proper.

I figured I'd file this issue here for good public visibility, if this is not the right place, please feel free to close it.

There was already a review request made for an rpm some time back. I updated it and linked the rpm spec fom this repo you're using for your fedora & centos releases:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1023690

Please feel free to also comment there if you are willing to maintain the official Fedora rpm spec.

No, I have neither time nor intention to maintain any more packages in Linux distros. You can use the current spec, thought it is out-of-date and might likely require changes. I use the following repo for builds: https://github.com/vstakhov/rspamd-build-scripts I can provide you the actual spec but it won't likely help as it is heavily patched during the build process to satisfy my requirements (e.g. hyperscan support or building with the recent luajit).

Thank you for the quick response!

I will have a look at that repo. Is this the actual spec you're using now? I'll try to build as closely to your recommendations as possible.

For now I used the specfile from this repo as a template and did some debugging/building:
https://github.com/LorbusChris/rspamd-rpm

The build for Fedora 25 is passing on COPR (passing, but untested for now):
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/lorbus/rspamd/monitor/

However, Ragel stable is currently not on Fedora 26 and Rawhide, and builds are therefore failing with the error from issue https://github.com/vstakhov/rspamd/issues/1396

I will have a close look at the other specfile and update accordingly, although this probably won't happen until Q4 of this year due to time constraints.

Once I have spec that I feel comfortable enough with to submit for package review in Fedora, I will ping back here.

Thank you @nim-nim. Although it's an oingoing effort, there is just a little work missing, namely the unbundling of some deps and the proper Provides declarations of the deps that will ship bundled. I hope to be able to present an updated version of the spec that is in accord with the Fedora Guidelines, soon =)

Feel free to reach out to me for package review once you feel like you're ready.

I'm still planning on getting it into Fedora repos. Just doesn't have a high priority right now.

Rspamd 1.8.3 is not supported for ages, please refrain from using it.

Where can we find an rspamd version for Fedora 30 ?

@pipiche38 There is a build for f30 in the copr: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/lorbus/rspamd/build/908865/
However, that is version 1.8.3.

I hope I find some time to update to a current release soon. Please keep in mind that I do this in my free time, there is no guarantee or support for packages from my copr.

@LorbusChris thanks. the 1.8.3 on coprs doesn't work ! There is indeed a build but /usr/bin/rspamd is pointing to /usr/bin/rspamd-1.8.31 which doesn't exist !

Let me know if I can help. I was trying on my side to make a Copr for rspamd but not yet successful. So if I can leverage or support you to move to 1.9 let me know

Just an update that the official Fedora packaging effort has:

which contains the latest release of Rspamd, 2.2.

This looks good indeed, thank you! However, I have some notices:

  • please disable GD support, as it is not very well designed and currently can be dangerous as it is totally untested experimental feature
  • please remove all torch related stuff - it is no longer a part of Rspamd
  • -DENABLE_URL_INCLUDE is also untested feature that nobody really uses

Thanks for the review @vstakhov!
I'll try to update the spec over the holidays, or if anybody else wants to chime, contributions are always welcome over there as well :)

Just wanted to say that all your efforts are appreciated (deep into updating my own specs for Fedora right now)

Tried to install on my system. Big disaster. no way to start, not a single error except rspamd

Dec 16 15:47:39 mail.pipiche.net systemd[1]: Started /usr/bin/systemctl start man-db-cache-update.
Dec 16 15:47:39 mail.pipiche.net systemd[1]: rspamd.service: Service RestartSec=100ms expired, scheduling restart.
Dec 16 15:47:39 mail.pipiche.net systemd[1]: rspamd.service: Scheduled restart job, restart counter is at 2.
Dec 16 15:47:39 mail.pipiche.net systemd[1]: Stopped rapid spam filtering system.
Dec 16 15:47:39 mail.pipiche.net systemd[1]: Started rapid spam filtering system.
Dec 16 15:47:39 mail.pipiche.net systemd[1]: rspamd.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE

I have updated the spec according to the suggestions above.

@pipiche38, if you have problems with the RPM, please create an issue and provide more information over at https://github.com/LorbusChris/rspamd-rpm/
