We have been using Rocket.chat as a deployed service on "Rocket.Chat Deploy" servers with the version 0.45.0.
We have migrated from Slack and one of the features we miss about Slack is; it remembers the last channel you were using on both desktop and mobile and shows that channel when you open Slack app.
On the rocket.chat side, first screen you see after logging is a plain text empty page with the following content:
Welcome to Rocket.Chat
Go to APP SETTINGS -> Layout to customize this intro
I can't imagine but there may be cases to utilize such a page however for our use, we would really appreciate to competely remove that intro page and load recently active channel.
Is it possible to achive this with in the v0.45.0? If not, please kindly accept this suggestion as a feature request.
Any timeline for this?
Hello there, I would like to work on this. Any suggestions about where I should start?
@somebrel I'd probably take a look at how the routes work because when the app starts, I'm guessing something points you to the "Home" page. Once you've got there, you can probably backtrace the code and make your change there.
Rocket.Chat/client/routes/router.js
Might a good place to start.
@lashae would this be the last channel you received a communication on? Or would this be the last channel you were looking at before you closed the chat previously?
@pettitto "The last channel I was looking" seems more logical, isn't it?
Yep, I agree. I'll take a look at this.
@Prakharsvnit I believe that's related to new users where the "Join default channels" box is checked. It makes sure that they join the channels that are marked as default.
Hey can I work on this ?
Hi, I'd like to take on this issue
I would like to work upon it. If anyone is having a lead please guide me too :)
I think, this issue is already being solved by #8700 and will be completely reviewed and merged after this issue ( "Go to home" button: #1628 ), as discussed in pr #8700. If that still doesn't fix this issue, please guide us so that we can work on this issue.
It looks like the PR had a some checks that didn't complete; is there still movement on a feature like this elsewhere?
