React-native: Picker Placeholder[ANDROID]

Is there any way to use react-native Picker with placeholder that is shown before the user clicks on in @ android? its suppose to have a "gender" text w/o having it as an available option on Picker.Item

Environment

OS: Windows 10
Node: 8.10.0
Yarn: 1.1.0
npm: 6.0.1
Watchman: Not Found
Xcode: N/A
Android Studio: Version 3.1.0.0 AI-173.4720617
Packages: (wanted => installed)
react: 16.3.1 => 16.3.1
react-native: 0.55.4 => 0.55.4

Steps to Reproduce

Trying to add a picker placeholder @ android

Expected Behavior

having a placeholder text along with the picker component

Actual Behavior

Placeholder doesnt show
