React-native-reanimated: Excessive number of pending callbacks error

I've been getting this excessive pending callback error ever since I've upgraded react-navigation, whenever my application starts I get this error in debug mode. Could anyone shed some light into what would be causing this?

react-native: 0.61.5
react-native-reanimated: ^1.2.0

I'm the same, my application is rather large so it's hard to pin point excactly whats causing the issue. But they are mostly animated related callbacks. :(

Getting the same here with Expo SDK 37. I do have my own Reanimated things in addition to the following packages.

I think it's when unmounting a ton of Reanimated stuff at the same time - with a large number of nodes. I don't get this warning for anything smaller.

It doesn't seem to cause any issues aside from maybe less than ideal performance, though.

That's true, there aren't any MAJOR problems with that. I guess it's a possibility since it's happening when I'm animating a LoaderSpinner made up of a bunch of animated spinning dots.

Then again, would be great to figure out how to work it out at some point :)

getValue from error is coming from detaching nodes in componentWillUnmount of AnimatedComponent. We need to make a call through the bridge to JS in order to update its value (more info here). It may be caused by calling getValue on nodes that are already detached, but that's my guess.

@juanjsebgarcia, your screenshot looks like you're using Animated and not Reanimated

I can't really debug what's going on without repro, so please provide it if you have one

This is an issue that we can't really solve - when detaching and reattaching node to view it should maintain its state. We can't update this state in any other way than calling a method in the native module.

Reanimated has upper limit of nodes it can manage and exceeding this limit can trigger this warning.

If you're using navigation please consider upgrading to the newer version that doesn't have this problem.

This is happening to me with RN 0.63.2 react-navigation 5.x, I was on 0.61.5, react-navigation 4.x and updated packages just 2 weeks before and this is a big issue for us since we are in production.

@eric-om yes, the app freezes and become unusable, will need to kill it and reopen. I haven't added any animation using this package, is this something caused by the React Navigation package since this is a dependency for that.

To add on to @calluna18 's comment while I get this issue on Expo SDK 38 (RN 0.62) I've only had performance issues and crashing in the simulator while testing through expo. My app runs fine when installed from TestFlight.

for me I think this was caused by the usage of UIManager.setLayoutAnimationEnabledExperimental(true); and LayoutAnimation. I stopped having this error when I deleted lines using these APIs.
