[Error: [firestore/unavailable] The service is currently unavailable. This is a most likely a transient condition and may be corrected by retrying with a backoff.
This error pops up every once in a while both in production and development
Every firestore related request just stops working and this error shows up
The only way around this is to signOut and then signIn again.
This behaviour is the same on both iOS and Android.
Example request:

React Native Firebase and Invertase on Twitter for updates on the library. You're not alone in this - same issue as #2887
It doesn't really have anything to do with this package though, since this package only wraps the native SDKs.
@andersonaddo that may be, but how is it, that this happens on both IOS and Android?
I dunno man ๐คท๐ฟโโ๏ธ
I don't have knowledge of the inner workings of the upstream SDKs. Clearly, it has to do with a common denominator that they both share.
Maybe ask some of the devs in their respective repos.
If this cannot be fixed, maybe it is better to find a way to detect this, and log user out (like if there was a token maxAge or something) :)
That's fair, but I think it's better to leave that to the users of the package.
Think about it this way - this error has been made vague by the SDK devs for a reason; probably because there's a number of distinct problems that cause it. Some of those would warrant a log out, but some won't (otherwise they wouldn't have states that the issue is transient).
Which means the way in which they should be handled should be left in the hands of the person using firestore.
Also automatic logouts can be very jarring from a UX perspective. ๐
Automatic logouts are indeed not the best strategy, but the problem here is that this error happans randomly( well... it appears to be so) and once it does, there is no 'try again later' for user, only re-login ๐
And if I log user out once this error appears (let say user clicked a button, request failed and signOut is called inside .catch())
It will just jump to login screen, which will look like a bug anyway
So in terms of UX this is a choise between bad and not so great ๐ LOL

You're not alone in this - same issue as #2887
It doesn't really have anything to do with this package though, since this package only wraps the native SDKs.
