I sent him a mail for the same reason a few months ago, but got no response either. I like to think that it got spam-listed or that he was simply too busy to respond (which is fine with me).

@mhinz Thank you for offering to help out with maintanence. I would be open to adding new maintainers who have contributed in the past multiple times and with whom I have kept up a conversation long enough that I have a feeling that our views regarding the project direction align.
In the meantime, your bug reports, PRs and PR reviews are very welcome!
