I wanted to inquire as to how the team would look upon a fork of Rainloop webmail into an Electron based desktop application to compete more against Outlook and Thunderbird?
No more activity since 11/11/2017.
@HLFH if you say no more activity - do you mean this project has been abandoned?
@Radiergummi It is abandoned by @RainLoop team, I'm a simple contributor. I would advise either forking RainLoop and take over or switch to another open source webmail:
It is abandoned by @RainLoop team, I'm a simple contributor.
can you reference any announcement?
@HLFH ah, that's unfortunate. I've always enjoyed RainLoop over the competitors, especially for it's Gmail resemblance. Oh well. Thank you for the confirmation...
@DeepDiver1975 Nein, Ich kann nicht.
I've contacted RainLoop support. Waiting for definitive confirmation.
I've switched to Roundcube for professional use.
And I'm progressively switching to Nextcloud Mail for personal use.
I really loved RainLoop and it was quite the best advanced webmail solution, one year ago. Still, there are some missing features and security issue that made me willing to migrate for stability and better integration to other solutions.
@HLFH , well if no proof, then how come you're making such bold claims ?
@mashiweirk Until yesterday, we hadn't any commit history between 11/11/2017 and 20/02/2018.
Which is 101 days. And considering the lack of communication and transparency from RainLoop, it was then a pretty decent claim. I will still migrate, and wish you good continuation with RainLoop.
100 days... abandoned?.. cakephp update release after 3+ years and we though all devs are included to that missing MH370 plane.. lol
@HLFH Rainloop is not abandoned. You're just pouting.
@megadr01d

You are showing me the current link of the commit history. And the new commits were only public on February 20th, 2018.
I would say that quite every webmail has suffered of a slow development, and I am not pouting on this, it is a fact. RainLoop is amongst the top 5 open source webmails. I am using ArchLinux, so I am much more in a rolling release tradition. When some projects do not fit into that, I switch.
@RainLoop Can you please close the issue, thanks!
When some projects do not fit into that, I switch.
You can switch without adding negativity and false information:
It is abandoned by @RainLoop team.
@Pofilo Facts can be negative. False information? There was lack of information. At this time, before February 20, it was abandoned during 101 days exactly, since there was no public commit history between 11/11/2017 and 20/02/2018. I'm repeating myself on this.
No more activity since 11/11/2017.
This thread is a FUD, please close.
This thread cannot be closed as long as the team has not reviewed the request which is:
Electron-based desktop application for RainLoop
The commits between 11/11/2017 and 20/02/2018 were only pushed to the main repo on 20/02/2018. It was not a FUD. Happily, this particular issue was fixed.
