Rainloop-webmail: Allow change of authentication on SMTP server

Created on 8 Jan 2014  路  6Comments  路  Source: RainLoop/rainloop-webmail

When you are an Admin,
The authentication for the SMTP server is not editable anywhere...
the auth of the SMTP server is not always the same as the auth of the IMAP or POP3 server. thus would be usefull to be able to specify auth details for it.

Code has been prepared for this.

Maybe I'll add this functionality using a special plug-in.

that would be a great addition. it stays easy to manage for others and only when you need it you install the plugin

I've tested the smtp override plugin and have had it working for a while. at least with the google SMTP server. have yet to set it up using my own ISP's smtp server.

Could you please give me more information about your problem?

The problem was more on our end. my company did not allow use of the smtp server from any other location than the company itself. however I now use a google smtp and it works fine. (have to admit it only works because i have a special gmail account tied to my work email adres (google apps for business) with my personal gmail it does not work,

the smtp works, but all emails are recieved as if they came from my personal gmail address instead of my company address :)

anyway i got it to work. So i don't have any problems.

I have this same problem. The issue is that I want to use a different SMTP provider than my own server. I want to auth to Dovecot with different credentials than to 3rd party SMTP. I can't set the passwords explicitly for both of the servers separately. Is there a workaround for this?
