Hi there!

I see that version 6.0.0 is available in package.json on master. But not on npm. Why ? Is there any reason ? Do you need help ?

It is available from NPM: npm i [email protected]. It is just not marked as a latest version. I'm not sure about the details, but looks like it had some issues and oughta be properly released once those are resolved.

Last I heard, about two months ago, Protractor 6 wasn't ready for prime-time. They talked about it in Gitter.

The specific issues that prevented me from updating our automation to Protractor 6:

  • Can't run in sharded mode due to bug in Protractor
  • Screenshots are broken (?)
  • Can't run without seleniumAddress unless directConnect: true
  • Documentation out of date
  • Typings out of date

Here's Craig Nishina's comment on it (via gitter):

Yes unfortunately Protractor 6 is not ready for prime time. I did a release and found some issues. We will create a beta version with fixes. This will be 6.0.1-beta.1.
