I tried Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 Demo : it works fine, I could play a match for several launches. It seems that when I finally entered a username to save personal settings, the demo crash a few seconds after loading main screen. Log file attached. I cannot play anymore.

Moreover, the Settings.exe executable cannot be launched so it is not possible to play in fullscreen mode.

Anyone know how to reset personal data in order to be able to play again?

I have the same issues. But since i couldn't start any match, i just thought it's a general problem.
So i will try to delete the user-data, too.

I think you will find them in ../SteamApps/common/Pro Evolution Soccer 2019/

Not found how to reset user data. I uninstalled the demo, then reinstalled and it worked.

@sgripon does it work permanently or does it crashed again?

You can reset the game by deleting the "KONAMI" folder in "My Documents".
But this didn't work for me. I couldn't play any match at all.

New founding: it seems that crash is related to network issue, especially secured communication. Found in proton log file:

So I tried to disable my PC network before launching the game. And it works! The crash does not occur any more and it is possible to play an exhibition game. Of course, online matches are not possible.

Hello @sgripon, what version of Proton did you test with? Does Proton 3.16-6 have better behavior?

It is proton 3.16-6. However, trace file is from an older version. I don't see any better behavior with 3.16-6.

The crash report is different with proton 3.16-6. This is the log file.

Hello @sgripon, what version of Proton did you test with? Does Proton 3.16-6 have better behavior?

@kisak-valve unfortunately the network issue still exists with Proton 3.16-6 Beta, offline features appear to work as expected when disconnected from Konami servers (tested on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS):

Any update on running this on Proton 4.2?

Unfortunately, same behavior with proton 4.2-3. I attached the updated proton log file.

I'm experiencing exactly the same behavior. Sure, I'm able to bypass the initial crashes if I disable the network interface, but like the commentators say ... "Nearly, but really is nothing"

A football simulator without multiplayer features in 2019? Is not enough, I think.

In the other hand ... It would be pretty awesome to be able to run settings.exe, since in PES you cannot modify graphic settings at runtime. I guess disabling some graphic effects ... the performance could be increased.

I think Konami people should take a look at Proton. I would pay for the full version of this game, It would be the first reliable football sim in GNU/Linux, of course I'd pay for that, indeed yes!

I'm particularly interested in this one, because ... I'm able to play in myClub mode randomly, I mean, sometimes when I start the game, if I switch the tab with RB or LB I can get inside myClub mode and play at least vs-Com. Other times randomly it freezes and crashes (with no time to tab change).

Here my log when game crashes.

It would be fine a bit of help to test more proton options or crack the general issue.

@WyRe Regarding the settings.exe, you can run this one with a system wine installation. This will then create a settings.dat in your current wine prefix (My Documents/KONAMI/PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2019/settings.dat, the exact locations depends on your wine prefix settings).
Just copy this one into the proton compatdata for PES to make it count (~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/770240/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/KONAMI/PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2019/settings.dat in my case).

How do you do that? For me, Settings.exe crashes when I try to run it through wine.

@sgripon It has been a while since I did that, could be that settings.exe was a .Net executable and that you'll need to install .Net first. You could try running winetrick dotnet452 first asuming you have winetricks available.

Great, it works! However it is necessary to install Windows fonts also. I published a full tutorial to help people. Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear that it worked ;). Regarding fonts, Fedora wine already comes with corefonts, I guess that's why I didn't needed that. That said, I guess installing corefonts instead of allfonts should be sufficient. Note that the cp command in your totorial contains the (I asume) French name for My Documents, I guess it is wise to clarify that the exact location depends on the setup.

PS: The paths differ between PES lite and full version

OK, I changed and added a warning about the localization of the My Documents folder.

About fonts: if fact I tried installing only corefonts but it did not work. I was a little bit lazy finding the right font to install, so I installed allfonts...

I think you should post your reviews in here https://www.protondb.com/app/950100

And eventually make a pressure group to force Konami, hehehe.
