Projectreunion: Add title bar buttons to easily snap apps

Created on 18 Dec 2020  路  4Comments  路  Source: microsoft/ProjectReunion

Similar to maximize and minimize buttons, consider adding buttons like snap left, snap top, stop right and snap bottom. By default, you could show snap left and snap right and after snapping to either side you could replace them with snap top and snap bottom. This will improve the experience since dragging the window can be hard sometimes.

This is mostly a shell UX issue, but with possible Reunion windowing implications since there are APIs for manipulating the titlebar buttons.

Good idea but make it optiomal

Maybe this use-case can be covered by the FancyZones Powertoy?

Chrome OS has solved this with an interesting button where you click it, then drag left, right, up, down, or diagonal to get each respective split. Given how much Chrome OS window management has copied Windows, copying back is probably fine? And it would elegantly solve the problem as opposed to the numerous buttons suggested here.

I personally think this functionality should be built into the title bar, as it highly desirable for trackpad users.
